Buddy Boone5 Stars Out Of 5October 17, 2001Buddy BooneThis commentary on the English text is a treasure. When I first read the preface, I was pleasantly suprised to find a spunky speak the truth in love kind of guy. Dr. George is a gifted writer and his introduction is simply riviting. His arguments for the South Galatia theory are convincing (based as they are on Bruce's previous work). The exegesis is lucid and carefully presented. Dr. George does a masterful job at defending the traditional reformation perspective on Pauline theology. However, George does not simply post the theology and then work the exegesis around it; rather, his careful exegesis brings us to see once again that the reformers were essentially correct in their understanding of Pauline theology. I appreciate George's interaction with Sanders, Dunn and Wright concerning "The New Perspective on Paul." This is a marvelous piece of work. I recommend using it along with the work of F.F. Bruce (NIGTC), Richard Longenecker (WBC), and Ben Witherington (Socio-Rhetorical).
