"He is a white man! Defend yourselves!" The speaker immediately had my attention! And as if that were not enough, here came the whole village running at us-armed with every conceivable weapon known to the Yanomamo-machetes, axes, war clubs, bows and arrows...even two old shotguns. Daduwa, our native guide, jumped out in front of us. "No! No! No!" he shouted, his arms waving wildly. "He is not a white man!" Boy, this is going to be good, I thought to myself...praying silently for divine intervention. This is the story of Michael Dawson, born in the middle of the Amazon jungle, the fifth child of early missionaries who settled their family near Tama Tama, Venezuela. Here he was spent his life living and working among the native Yanomamo and continues to serve God with his wife, Keila, and their three boys and two daughters.
