Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I believe in Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, and I am a Born-again Christian. Not a flawless Christian--I need God's mercy, forgiveness, and grace every day--but a Christian nonetheless.

I have known from an early age that God gave me the gift and talent for writing. I am a freelance writer in the Christian market, and I have had several pieces published: some personal experience, some devotionals, and even some poetry.

I enjoy reading, writing, spending time with family/friends (including our dog!), music, and working out...when I am determined and make myself! Ha!

What was your motivation behind this project?  My parents, family, friends, and co-workers have been very encouraging to me along the way, in life and in writing. (Thank you all!!!) It took some doing, but my parents kept after me that I needed to gather my stories and write a book.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I want this book to honor Jesus Christ the Lord! God be glorified! I really hope this book ministers to people's hearts, in whatever way that would be for them...whether they read a story that challenges them, convicts them, encourages them, or makes them laugh! These are all true stories. Obviously, these are not all of my life experiences, but some of them... I've shared some of the good and the not-so-good, and I hope people will be encouraged by that. I don't believe it would be honest writing for me to share only the good side, and never share any of my struggle, pain, frustration, faults, weaknesses, etc...

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I'm not saying this to complain (thank God, He was with me through it all!), but this book was quite a journey! Needless to say, I learned more about patience, endurance, and pressing on through trying, discouraging times... One thing about it: if you want to be a writer, you MUST be able to press on and keep at it, whether you feel like it or not...whether you're inspired or not...when the words are flowing easily, and even when you're struggling and can't think of anything to write!

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  God, family and friends, and life experiences... I am a fan of Max Lucado, Suzanne Woods Fisher (Amish Peace), Wanda E. Brunstetter (Return of the Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club), and Patsy Clairmont (God Uses Cracked Pots & Normal Is Just a Setting On Your Dryer.) I am also inspired by Christian Amish and Mennonites, and their heart to follow Christ and the Bible, and not worldly ways. I know some Christian Mennonites, and they are wonderful people! I have also been to their church, and I love it! My, can they sing! I am also inspired by the life and testimony of Dirk Willems: a peace-loving, Anabaptist Christian in the 1500s, who took seriously the command of Jesus Christ to love his enemies, even though it cost him his earthly life!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  To anyone who reads this...THANK YOU! To anyone who buys the book in any format...THANK YOU! To all who have encouraged and supported me in any way...THANK YOU! God bless and keep you all!!! In Jesus Name, Amen!
