tickmenotKansas CityGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Thank You For Being My FriendFebruary 26, 2016tickmenotKansas CityGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Do you remember what you did the last time you were with a friend? You can probably recite where you were, and how you felt about it, even if it was long ago. No doubt that memory will cause you to recall other times you were with a friend, too. Friendships with others are important to us, whether it is with someone you haven't known for long, or with someone that goes back for years. This book explores the kaleidoscope of types of friendships that can exist, and just like fingerprints, no two relationships are alike.
The Gift of Friendship is a compilation of over fifty, true short stories from a variety women sharing their friendships. The editor has divided them into nine different categories, such as "pursuing friendship" to "old friends." Some of these tales will cause you to giggle, some will bring a lump to your throat, but many, if not all, will touch your heart.
We may not recall the great buy we found a couple of years ago, or the way to drive to a particular spot, but the memories we have from the people in our lives--our friendships--will stay with us forever. Friendships are important to us, and how they make us feel, resonate to our very core.
I enjoyed this book, it is easy to read, and many of the stories are easy to identify with. God created us to be in relationships, just as the book of Hebrews reminds us, " And let us not neglect our meeting together..."
Open this book, and enjoy the gift of friendship as experienced by many different people, in a variety of circumstances. After you're done, you might be inspired to reach out to your friend, whether it be via the post office, the telephone, or one of today's many social media options. This 5-star book would be a nice gift to give a friend, or as a gift to give to yourself.

opinion of it.
I was barely a few pages and and automatically I was
thinking of my friendships, both past and present. I recently
connected with a close friend from my childhood days on
Facebook and was flooded with a wealth of memories that were so
sweet that they made me homesick. We have both moved from our hometown,
but I was heartsick to go back to the time and place
when we wadded in the creek, ran down gravel roads, played dolls,
read Tiger Beat, but mostly dreamed.
Dawn Camp brings us a book that talks about friendship. This is a collection
of 50 true stories from a variety of authors that will touch your very heart.
The book is arranged so that you can read it either in one setting or just
story by story. Each one will spark a memory for the reader of
a present or past friendship. Wonderful stories.
I would recommend this book to anyone.

Just Commonly5 Stars Out Of 5Give the gift of friendshipFebruary 17, 2016Just CommonlyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"We need our people. We need friends standing in our corner, cheering us on, believing in us. We need listening ears, shares of inside jokes, keepers of secrets. We need those who laugh when we laugh, cry when we cry, and then pass the chips and salsa...that's the gift of friendship." - Dawn Camp (19)
Well said, Dawn. Just like in her first book, The Beauty of Grace, The Gift of Friendship is a collection of personal stories from writers, with the power to bring grace to our lives. Every single story in this book is one of beauty, of personal shared moments with a friend or community that lends to God's plan for us as relational beings. I can honestly say each story touched me on some level and brings forth past memories, or a sudden desire to call a friend or send a note to one. These are heartfelt stories of friendships that may be simple, short or of the past, but each story shares of a sense of communal belonging, of being loved and wanted and remembered. A beautiful book, with stories that will captivate you, disarm you and make you feel. And that's why, this is a winner. Get one for yourself, and share one or more with others. As you read this, many will pop in your mind, and those are the very people that will appreciate this gift, and your gift - your gift of friendship.

I have to say that friends can be the best relationships many of us will ever have or I should say the only relationships we actually care to enjoy. The Gift of Friendship by Dawn Camp is proof that friends are the one connection that we truly need in life in order to keep the fires burning in us. Sometimes our friend can be the one and only person to motivate us or help balance out all of the ugliness that "family" drags us into or towards. These relationships are so beautiful and absolutely moving that they can make us or break us. Camp has created this book that showcases some 50 beautiful connections and how they have affected their partners and it is the happiest read from beginning to end. It will make its readers reminisce on their friendships and maybe inspire them to voice their appreciation. I was and did. I fantastic upbeat read. I received a copy from Revell Books and all opinions are my own.
Alison4 Stars Out Of 5A reminder of the GRACE friends are.February 9, 2016AlisonQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I truly enjoyed my time with this book. It is a compilation of stories and essays on friendship that I blazed through in an afternoon as the snow fell. I was surprised how many different friends the Lord brought to my mind as I read these words from so many others. Despite being physically alone while reading, I felt surrounded as I remembered the many people the Lord has given me, whether for one season or for many. I wont deny how difficult friendships can be, especially into transitions throughout adulthood. But so often, I think I can forget the deep, profound graces Ive been gifted through the friendships Ive been given. I am grateful for the reminder of how the Lord has cared for me through my friends. 4/5 for me.
