We are saved but not set free. Jesus paid the price for our freedom. Not only freedom from an eternity separated from God, but freedom from bondage and affliction while we are still on this earth. Andy Reese has distilled the wisdom gained from countless sessions of Sozo ministry into "Freedom Tools", which provides a model that anyone can follow into freedom for themselves and for others.
I've found Andy Reese's book to be beneficial and informative. He writes in a simplistic manner for anyone to understand and yet does not dumb down the message. Through a God lead process anyone can learn to help people find the freedom they've been longing and searching for. You don't have to be a trained and licensed counselor to use these tools to help set the captive free.
Freedom Tools is a well written description of using Scriptural tools to help people with problems. Reese's book is not a book about amateur counseling but one of inner healing and deliverance and states the limitations of "first responder" healing and doesn't claim to be more than it is. As in basic first aid you learn what to do to help someone in need. Reese teaches about circumstances that may require professional counseling and what to do for them. It does offer assistance in providing answers for your friends and family who you have common ground. For those who find themselves in the role of advisor, confidant, or just good friend, this book offers some basic Christian tools.
Read with an open heart and listen to what God is showing you. It will change your life. I recommend this book if you want to be healed and to help others.

Roger Bertolini5 Stars Out Of 5May 20, 2008Roger BertoliniMy 12 year old daughter (at the time) described Sozo as the "ministry of getting over it." Andy captures that simplicity through a very thorough and entertaining explanation of how to help friends in need. Amust read for anyone interested in inner ehaling.

What was your motivation behind this project? Emotional needs are, in many ways, like medical needs. Ninety percent of the need is satisfied by home-based, lay-administered first aid and over the counter medicine. It is seldom cancer, it rarely requires open-heart surgery and it is usually not life threatening. And when it is life threatening would you not be glad some friend caught it early enough and with enough insight to refer you to professional help? It takes eight years plus to be a competent physician. But it takes only a few hours to learn basic CPR; only a day to learn first aid basicsbleeding, breathing, heartbeat. A band-aid is just what we need if the problem is a cut. Much of what we encounter in people are just emotional scratches, relational burns, behavioral headaches, minor dark infections, sprained morals or stubbed egos. Most of us are not a millimeter from melt down or an inch from insanity. And when it is more than that? We can help spot it and learn where to refer. That is a valuable and good thing too. In the real world, we are in desperate need for first responders, those trained in basic first aid for the soul. That is why I so love the lifestyle, the way that this book is about. With simple instruction and a little practice we find we are competent to help another find relief and freedom. I do not have to be an emotional open-heart surgeon. Most people do not need that.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? In this book you will learn how to be an effective first responder on a scene that seems littered with emotional and spiritual fender benders and a few wrecks; of practicing the kind of friendships that are really, really good for each other; of being a true counter-terrorist against the schemes of dark forces; and, most importantly, of finding and enjoying the warm smile and embrace of Papa God. You will learn how to use key tools God has put in place to help bring about freedom and healing to hurt and trapped people. I will start with ten key foundational understandings that frame and under gird our techniques. Then I will give a basic framework for ministering and a simple five-step process. Finally I will describe and illustrate some more advanced tools that greatly speed up and amplify the effectiveness of the basic framework.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Well, I wrote with anticipation and excitement and look forward to seeing what happens now.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? The Redding CA Bethel Church Sozo Team, John Sandford, Neil Anderson, Francis McNutt, Derek Prince,Ed Smith and a host of others. Most especially it is the faces of those who, at the end of a ministry session are tear streaked and glowing.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: We are about a decade into it. And it works. Those who use these tools have grown into a network nationally and internationally. Training materials have been translated into several languages. I hope this book encourages you to go for it, personally, in relationships and small groups, as a church and especially outside the church. There is no substitute for trying these things out for yourself and on yourself in an honest and humble way. If you do you will find that your conversations will be forever changed, your relationships forever deepened. It will become a lifestyle, and a way of relating. You will feel armed and dangerous to the dark kingdom, competent to really help others. Most importantly, your awe of a living and loving Papa God will be expanded with each encounter. And you will be hooked! We started down this path years ago, and after seeing many people improved, healed and restored, have no regrets . . . none. Im thinking you won't either.
