momof34 Stars Out Of 5Great content but needs printed Teacher's EditionSeptember 6, 2018momof3Quality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3The content in this course is excellent, informative, and my teens find it engaging. However, to work in a home school setting, there needs to be a printed Teacher's Edition (basically a student text with the answers filled in, along with the student's syllabus). The answers are provided in a Teacher's CD, however, you have to wade through many files to find them. The provided "lesson plan" is not helpful for home school teachers; the student syllabus is actually a better guide and more helpful. In addition, without a full Teacher's Edition, I cannot follow along and see what my students are reading or understand their questions without having to use their books.
So, the only way to follow along with my students is to purchase ANOTHER student text for myself, print off the student syllabus so I know what needs to be done each day, AND either keep the answers up on my computer, spend time copying the answers into my student text, or print off the answers (wasting paper and ink). I just encourage Dave Ramsey's team to truly make this a doable curriculum by providing a full printed Teacher's Edition (non-home school teachers need one for their editions as well).
RN Mom of 53 Stars Out Of 5NOT written for homeschoolFebruary 10, 2016RN Mom of 5Quality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2This product presents itself as "written for homeschool." This is not the case. In only the second lesson, the teacher resource advises the teacher to separate the class into groups as an integral part of the day's activity. (I have a group of one.) Looking forward to future activities, my (one, homeschooled) student will be asked to plan upcoming expenses. Suggested categories are "Homecoming, School Club, Sports Fees, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Anniversary, Prom, and Other." This is obviously a classroom product that has been bundled to sell to homeschoolers.
We are a Dave Ramsey family. We live like no one else. I have no issue with the content of the course - it is exactly what I would expect from DR. Plan ahead, avoid debt, be a responsible consumer. The issue I take with this product is that it is not written for homeschoolers, despite its title. I appreciate the syllabus and the videos. Just beware that some activities aren't applicable in a homeschool environment.
I look forward to a revision of this course, one that is homeschool-friendly. Until then I cannot recommend this product to other homeschoolers.
Kristin C.Dallas, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A 'MUST HAVE' math for your highschooler!March 7, 2015Kristin C.Dallas, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you, the parents, have ever taken Dave Ramsey's Financial Freedom classes and loved them, then you will NOT be disappointed with this one for your teens!
His video segments are geared specifically for High School/young adults and his humor, as always, keeps the student engaged. All topics covered are relevant and needed for today's young adults... very practical and useful.
*Be prepared to spend a bit of time, when you first receive the kit, printing LOTS of paperwork and organizing a binder for your student. It's great stuff...lots of extra activities, tests etc that are all meant to be done in addition to the Student Workbook...there's just a lot of it!
There is a schedule already set up for the student to follow, and that is VERY helpful! It tells them what day to watch the video, what day to do a specific activity etc. etc. And there are answer keys for the parent as well.
Overall GREAT curriculum and a MUST HAVE course!
