We are all made for connection, but many of us live with walls up and hearts closed. What would it take for us to let go and stand tall and unashamed? I Am Found is a six-week Bible study on shame and identity where you'll explore how we can own our stories, trust God's affections, and relate honestly with Him and others.
Each week begins with biblical teaching and is followed by five days of guided reflection. Drenched in Scripture, and allowing plenty of space to journal and savor biblical truths, I Am Found welcomes you on a personal journey of transformation through God's Word.

TheJoyfulAdvocate4 Stars Out Of 5I Am FoundFebruary 13, 2017TheJoyfulAdvocateQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4This book is actually a 6-week bible study that can be completed with a group or (as I did it) individually. The purpose of this study is to look at the shame we carry along in our lives and learn to see ourselves as God sees us (shameless, blameless). Through this study, the reader learns to come face to face with the issue or shame and, eventually, overcome it.
The interesting thing about this study is that I did not initially start it with a feeling that I had a lot of shame. I did not consider myself to be someone who tries to "hide" from God or others. What I found, though, is that I was struggling with some shame and did truly want to be free from it.
I completed this study while sitting in the car rider line at my daughter's school (you know, before we began homeschooling) and truly enjoyed the quiet-time reflection. While I wish there was a notes section in each week's study (like the one that's included in many of Priscilla Shirer's studies), I brought a journal with me and just wrote in it.
Overall, I would recommend this study to any woman, but particularly those who struggle with shame or feeling unworthy of God's full love. I believe it could help bring upon great advancements in overcoming this shame.
Bookworm4vr5 Stars Out Of 5A study of guilt and shameSeptember 25, 2016Bookworm4vrQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This was a six week intensive bible study. We focused on where shame and guilt started. Obviously, the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve eating that fruit and wanting to cover their nakedness with fig leaves. We later move in to studying the Prodigal Son and how to look at it 5 different ways. Yes, five! and it didnt get boring either. You have to understand you cannot escape the guilt you have, but you can move forward and forgiveness is just the start.🙂
Kris BushOrlando, FLAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome Bible StudyAugust 29, 2016Kris BushOrlando, FLAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This bible study is about me, about you. Women are trying to be seen and known by God but when we sin and are ashamed we tend to hide. For me when I am ashamed I literally hide out in my bedroom. I love this study for that very reason it is challenging me to stop hiding from God, from my husband. It is also teaching me to stop "not being bothered" with other people. It is nothing personal against them, I just often prefer my own company to that of others. I Am Found summons us from the shadows and into the light. This 6-week Bible study on shame and freedom explores: why we hide from God and others, why Gods love frees us to come out of hiding, what it looks like to live like weve been found, and how to cultivate relationships that encourage vulnerability
And that is exactly what this study does. It has encouraged me to turn to GOD when I feel ashamed, when I have sinned. It is encouraging me to stop hiding from my husband when we have disagreements. It is encouraging me to not hide from people outside of my home when they may offend or insult me.
FYI: I did receive this bible study in exchange for my HONEST opinion.
Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Personal Bible Study On Overcoming Shame and Accepting God's GraceAugust 28, 2016Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I Am Found by Laura Dingman is a 6-week Bible study focused on shame: it's power over us, the things we do to hide because of it, and how we can overcome itby acceptingGod's forgivenessand hidingin Him instead of hiding fromHim. Each week includes an introduction, five daily lessons, and a conclusion entitled "Truth, Lies, and Actions". I personally preferto read the introduction the night before the day 1lesson in order to preparefor the week ahead, and read the conclusion on the evening of day 5. Thisprovidesmore time for reflection between readings.
- Week 1 (Fig leaves don't hide anything) uses the story of the garden of Eden to explain why we hide from God, others, and ourselves. Shame. Guilt. Humiliation. We also read about David and Bathsheba, learning the importance of coming clean with God.
-Week 2 (Know your enemy) discusses the Armor of God, and how to use this to face the enemy.
- Week 3 (Come out, come out, wherever you are!) shows you how to turn the "cycle of works" into the "cycle of grace", and trust in the Lord.
- Week 4 (You are not alone) helps you recognize the importance of embracing deep connections whilerealizing that not all connections last. Laura also emphasizes the need to learn to love and mend relationships.
- Week 5 (You are enough) is about redemption - how to realize that you are a new creation in God and recognize the strength in that Truth.
- Week 6 (You are found) focuses on the relentless pursuit of God, illustrated by the importance of finding things that are lost. The key storyis that ofthe Prodigal Son, studied in three different translationsto broaden your understanding ofits magnitude. (I don't relate well to this story, but found her insights and approachto be immensely helpful.)
The back of this bookdescribed this study as"Drenched in Scripture", and that's a very accurate statement. It doesn't just tell you to read a random verse here and there. Instead, you read whole passages and entire chapters. Then reflect upon them and dig deep into their significance to you personally. You don't just read Laura's interpretation of what the Bible says, but you seek the Truth for yourself.
You will also read personal stories that illustrate or reflect the lessons being worked on. I often find this part of a Bible study to beimpersonal - something a friend or co-worker or a lady from church went through. Instead, Laura's stories are exactly that -her personal stories. Things she's been through in her own life. This helps me feel like she truly understands what I'm dealing with - you know she's been there.
My favorite part of this book is the layout. It'swritten in such a way that even new-believers who have never really sat andread a Biblecan read the passages and follow Laura's guidance and suggestions in order to seek God for themselves. The direct Bible quotes are bold teal, the focus questions are standard teal, and Laura's insights and reflections are black. This makes it very easy to keep track of what you're reading and when you're supposed to interact and provide your own insights.
Overall, I'd give this study 5 stars and recommend it to anyone struggling with shame or seeking God's grace.

Renea5 Stars Out Of 5A Wonderful Study ToolAugust 17, 2016ReneaQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I received this book free from Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a wonderful study resource to help us overcome shame. It features personal stories from the author, bible verses to look up, questions to answer, and a daily prayer. This is so much more than a simple devotional. Laura Dingman gets to the very core of shame. This book goes over definition, cause, and how to overcome. How great a thing to live unashamed?
If I could add one thing to the book it would be a note section at the end of each day. I like to write my own prayers as well as any notes (this is a very thought-provoking) study.
I did like that it wasn't a difficult study filled with 100 daily questions you have to look up answers to. Yes, it has those important questions, but it's not an overwhelming amount. I find that the usual reason for not completing studies is lack of time. This one however, won't take an hour out of your day and it is so worth the time to learn to live unashamed.
I give this book 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
