If you are an animal lover, abuse survivor, former or current foster child, or a Christian you will enjoy this book! By happenstance I found out about this book. One night I was on Facebook and saw the sweetest post by Kathy Jones. She was talking about her book so I decided to order it on Facebook. I never expected the book to mean so much to me. I sent Kathy a message late at night and never expected her to respond, but she did within a few minutes. She is so strong and inspiring.

The book is heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. I am inspired by her story and her faith in God. She wrote to many audiences and some how did it successfully. Through her words I could feel the pain she felt as a small, scared child, but she never gave up. Her nurturing nature is a blessing to the country. I believe she has saved many lives with her book and advocacy. I related to some of the experiences she had, but never was in foster care. She opens a window into the world of a foster child and it makes me wish I could scoop every foster kid up and give him or her the love, care, and safety they never received.

She speaks of her abusers, but does it in a way that makes her forgiveness for what they did to her evident. Her pain didnt make her bitter; it made her better. She integrates her story with her adopted cat, Good Boy, because their life stories mirrored each others. Four months ago I rescued a dog that was scheduled to be euthanized that day. Like Kathys Good Boy, I may have saved her, but she also saved me. Animals can really aid in healing. I can personally attest to this and you will see it also in Kathys book. Make sure not to skip the chapters about the cat because they are vital to understanding the whole story and her healing.
