Divorce is a time of loss--it also becomes a time of change with the possibility that each partner might move forward toward personal restoration and wholeness. But how? David and Lisa Frisbie, authors of Happily Remarried, share godly wisdom, sound advice, and encouragement to help readers:
- heal from feelings of anger and abandonment
- discover the sufficiency of God
- develop interests, dreams, and skills
- raise healthy kids alone or as a co-parent
- manage money (or the lack of it)
This excellent resource provides great help for those with children and will guide any divorced reader to see the hope of a second chance as they learn to depend on God's grace, sufficiency, and promises.

Dr. David Frisbie5 Stars Out Of 5January 8, 2007Dr. David FrisbieDivorce hurts --- and just when you think you're "over it," the pain comes back stronger than ever. After 25 years of learning from divorced women and men, we wanted to share some of the best ideas we've discovered by listening and learning. We sat down with divorced people and asked them about the pathway to healing --- what things helped, what things didn't work, where the frustrations were. What we discovered was dozens of wise, strong, mature adults --- who have experienced the end of a marriage and have somehow not only survived, but actually become better persons --- and especially better parents. The "5 Stars" above are for the divorced persons who shared their personal journeys with us --- the highs and lows, sorrows and successes of trying to recover from the end of a marriage. If your marriage has ended, maybe what you need is not an "expert" but rather a friend who has "been there, learned from that" and who is willing to share what she knows --- or what he has learned. Those stories --- drawn from real-life divorced women and men --- fill the pages of "Moving Forward."If you take the time to read this book, thank you. May there be some light for your pathway and some fresh hope for your future within these pages.--- Dr. David & Lisa Frisbie, Executive Directors, The Center for Marriage & Family Studies, Del Mar, California --- authors of eight books including "Raising Great Kids On Your Own" and "Happily Remarried."
Sharon5 Stars Out Of 5October 29, 2006SharonGreat book for divorce-care groups! In 8 years of leading these groups, this is the first time I've seen people actually doing their reading: they come to group with the chapters read, plus they're reading in advance. So practical, so real, and so easy to read. Any divorce group leader should take a good look at this new book!

Lori Fisher5 Stars Out Of 5July 28, 2006Lori FisherGritty, honest, realistic hope! As a writer specializing in stepfamilies, and as a divorce and remarried woman who is raising kids, I received an advance copy of this new book. I couldn't put it down! Not preachy, not academic, this book reeks with the aromas of real life. The most helpful book I've seen for how to deal with your post-divorce emotions and choices.

Tell us a little about yourself. We're readers, writers, and family counselors. We love to travel --- this line of work makes that not only possible, but constant. We especially enjoyed touring China and climbing parts of the Great Wall; China is an amazing country with a bright future.
What was your motivation behind this project? We've been learning from divorced persons for more than two decades. The best of their wisdom is in this book! It's practical, down-to-earth reality, not some kind of high-brow theoretical advice.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Divorce hurts: this book won't change that. Our goal is to help people find a way to "move forward" and begin making progress in positive directions. This book provides practical, realistic first steps.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Our heroes include the divorced women and men who are out there, every day, trying to move forward and experience a life that is fulfilling and fruitful. We've met them, we've learned from them -- their stories are in this book.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Yes! If you are divorced --- you can move forward! God loves you --- not in a trite or trivial way, but with His whole heart. God cares about the struggles you face, and God will share them with you. He will partner with you in faithful and lasting ways.
