Author Bio

Susanne Dietze began writing love stories in high school, casting her friends in the starring roles. Today, she's the award-winning author of a dozen new and upcoming historical romances who's seen her work on the ECPA and Publisher's Weekly Bestseller Lists for Inspirational Fiction. Married to a pastor and the mom of two, Susanne lives in California and enjoys fancy-schmancy tea parties, the beach, and curling up on the couch with a costume drama and a plate of nachos.  You can visit her online at www.susannedietze.com and subscribe to her newsletters at http://eepurl.com/bieza5.

Cynthia Hickey grew up in a family of storytellers and moved around the country a lot as an army brat. Her desire is to write about real, but flawed characters in a wholesome way that her seven children and five grandchildren can all be proud of. She and her husband live in Arizona where Cynthia is a full-time writer.

Marcia Gruver’s southern roots lend touches of humor and threads of faith to her writing. Look for both in her Texas Fortunes and Backwoods Brides series. When she’s not perched behind a keyboard, you’ll find her clutching a game system controller or riding shotgun on long drives in the Texas Hill Country. Lifelong Texans, Marcia and her husband Lee have five children. Collectively, this motley crew has graced them with a dozen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter—so far.

ECPA-bestselling author Carrie Fancett Pagels, Ph.D., is the award-winning author of over a dozen Christian historical romances. Twenty-five years as a psychologist didn't "cure" her overactive imagination! A self-professed "history geek," she resides with her family in the Historic Triangle of Virginia but grew up as a "Yooper" in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Carrie loves to read, bake, bead, and travel – but not all at the same time! You can connect with her at www.CarrieFancettPagels.com.

CONNIE STEVENS lives with her husband of forty-plus years in north Georgia, within sight of her beloved mountains. She and her husband are both active in a variety of ministries at their church. A lifelong reader, Connie began creating stories by the time she was ten. Her office manager and writing muse is a cat, but she’s never more than a phone call or email away from her critique partners. She enjoys gardening and quilting, but one of her favorite pastimes is browsing antique shops where story ideas often take root in her imagination. Connie has been a member of American Christian Fiction Writers since 2000.

Jennifer Uhlarik discovered the western genre as a preteen, when she swiped the only "horse" book she found on her older brother’s bookshelf. A new love was born. Across the next ten years, she devoured Louis L’Amour westerns and fell in love with the genre. In college at the University of Tampa, she began penning her own story of the Old West. Armed with a BA in writing, she has won five writing competitions and was a finalist in two others. In addition to writing, she has held jobs as a private business owner, a schoolteacher, a marketing director, and her favorite—a full-time homemaker. Jennifer is active in American Christian Fiction Writers and is a lifetime member of the Florida Writers Association. She lives near Tampa, Florida, with her husband, teenage son, and four fur children.

The first story is First Things First by Susanne Dietze. This story grabbed my attention from the very start. Georgie Bridge loved Ward Harper. He left for five years and she she thought she would never see him again. Then life throws a curve. Ward returns to town as a lawyer opposing her father. Would they get together. You will have to read the book to find out. I loved everything thing about this story.

The second is a Most Reluctant Bride by Cynthia Hickey. This was another great story that had me from the beginning. Maggie and Zach Colton marry to protect her reputation and each thought it was just a marriage of convenience, but could there be true love for both. I fell in love with these characters.

The third is Weeping Willow by Marcia Gruver. This story takes place during the Civil War, This was a good story as well. It was well written.

The fourth is His Anchor by Carrie Fancett Pagels. This was another story that had my attention from the very start. This one takes place on Mackinac Island, Michigan in 1894. I loved these characters. This story also takes place around the time of another book by Carrie Pagels. My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island. The two stories work great side by side. I loved this one so much. I knew the writing would be great. The characters are well developed.

The fifth is After the Ball by Martha Rogers. It was a fun story. Based on a young man deciding if he wanted to be a wealthy oil man or a rancher. I fell in love with these characters.

The sixth is Lighter Than Air by Lorna Seilstad. This one has to do do with a hot air balloon and a boarding school. It is well written

The seventh is In Due Season by Connie Stevens. A great story of forgiveness.

The eighth is Heartfelt Echoes by Jennifer Uhlarik, This story takes place in Virginia City, Nevada. It is also a wonderful story.

The last is Prescription for Love by Erica Vetsch. Another great story. This one about a doctor and nurse getting a second chance at Love.

Nine authors. Nine stories. What better way to introduce yourself to new-to-you authors than to read a novella written by them? These collections are wonderfully written by some very talented authors. I knew I wanted to read these stories just from looking at the cover. Who doesn't like a good love story?

I've only just begun to dig into the wonders of this collection. I can tell you that what I've read so far has grabbed me big time.

I always begin these collections by reading the story written by the author who introduced me to the book. His Anchor written by Carrie Fancett Pagels was like returning home to a place that touched my heart. As always, the characters are so real and very memorable. If you've read Carrie's book My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island: Maude's Mooring, you will recognize some familiar characters. Sadie's story is fun, exciting and tugs on the heart strings.

I cannot wait to finish reading the other stories in this collection.

I was given a copy of this book by the author and was under no obligation to give a positive review.

Whats better than another fabulous romance collection from Barbour Publishing? How about one thats full of stories of one of my favorite romance threads? Second chances at first love.

There are nine (yep, you read that right, NINE) novellas in the First Love Forever Romance Collection. And yes, I could review all nine, but wed be here a while so instead, Ill highlight a few of my favorites.

A Most Reluctant Bride by Cynthia Hickey was probably my favorite out of the nine (but it was a very close race between three of these stories for that top spot. In this story, Maggie Spoonmore marries a man she had a major crush on as a girl. As Maggie and Zach spend their days together as a married couple, her feelings return. Unfortunately, Zach only married her for the ranch. Maggie and Zach are great together. Zach respects and understands where Maggies talents lie (which is not in the running of the house) and wants her by his side.

Jennifer Uhlarik takes a bit of a different approach with a hearing-impaired hero and heroine in Heartfelt Echoes. A misunderstanding has kept distance between these two but when Millies mother sends for Travis McCaffrey, he wastes no time in coming to Millies rescue. But shes not the same girl he remembers from school and something sinister is going on at her home.

Appropriately titled First Things First, as Susanne Dietzs novella is the first in the collection, when Ward Harper returns to town, Georgie Bridge is both shocked and dismayed. Shocked because Ward is back, dismayed because hes representing a man in a case against her father. With plenty of brothers and one of them in trouble, the Bridges turn to Ward for assistance. Can Ward crawl out of the shadows of his parents and be the man Georgie deserves?

Thats only a third of the stories in this collection. Each novella is on the longer side but still the right amount to kick back and finish in in one evening. It may introduce you to a new author and it could even re-introduce you to some characters youve seen before (as is the case with the stories from Carrie Fancett Pagels and Erica Vetsch).
