Tell us a little about yourself. I am a youth worker who loves to write stories for teens. My stories are reality based fiction and usually deal with a situation or circumstance many teenagers face.
What was your motivation behind this project? I am a teacher by nature and I want students to know that they are not alone in the circumstances they may be facing. Others have been there before and have survived. There is always a redeeming element in the story.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope they will gain a sense of belonging, a feeling of the prescence of God and how He interacts in our lives to take us through tough situations. About how He reveals His love for us through others. God is in control.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was amazed when going back and reading the story of how God revealed Himself through it. I am amazed that He spoke through me. I give Him all the glory and the praise.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My youth are my influences in wanting to write and in the stories I tell. God and His Son Jesus, through the Holy Spirit is my inspiration. In fact, I believe that I am just a vessel for His message. I love Terri Blackstock, Jan Karon, Ted Dekker, and many other contemporary Christian fiction writers.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Forever Family is the first of three books I have written. Never Alone was released in 2009 and Stand Strong has just been released this year (2011.) You can find more information about both on my website at AprilWord.
