Tell us a little about yourself. I have been writing and journaling since I was old enough to hold a pen, growing up on the West Side of Detroit in the 1960's gave me a lot to write and sing about. There a many more manuscripts and Albums that I still have yet to publish as a Song Writer and Gospel recording Artist. I always tell people when they ask how this book 'For.Mat' came into existence that it was by way of Keith Carroll from Destiny Publishing. After forwarding one of my manuscripts about my life to him, Mr. Carroll got back to me and said "it's good but not one knows who you are yet" and then he said that God was nudging him to tell me that there was another book that was an important book that I had to write. "What is the book about?" I asked and he said that I would have to seek God to find that out. After many nights of prayer and sitting in front of my computer the book began to tell the story of how God feels about Detroit and His plans for it. I find myself being fascinated when I began to read it again because it keeps unfolding how is God making moves in The city through (Matthew Trusette hence the Title For.Mat) and Gods Angel (Trustworthy) who has been sent to Detroit to shut off portals that should not be open and to open those that should be open. Let me tell you, there have been at least three things that have happened that God revealed in the book. I'm working toward making the book a film to bring many of these fascinating things to life. I believe it will unfold in film and show the depth of what the book is attempting to convey due to things getting "lost in translation". So, keep this in mind (as you read) it is more of a blueprint to follow than just a book to read.
What was your motivation behind this project? The motivation of the book for is me was coming into an understanding of how God feel's about land and Cities spaces and what happens to the land and the people living on the land; and in the Cities. He is grieved by the conditions that plague cities, especially because there is so much more that he has in store for the land and the people living there.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that this will bring people "HOPE", from just knowing that they are on God's mind and in his Heart.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was impacted by the spiritual push back that my family suffered through while working to get the story out to the people. I say it like this, we fought the battle of the Scare Crow from the "Wizard of Oz". The line that give's the description best is when he would say "there's some of me over there and some of me over there" that's what me and my family experienced while I was trying to finish the book. I have to take this time to Thank God for my Husband (Rick Ingram) for standing with me and encouraging me to keep Going in Spite of the Back lash
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My Parents Margo and Roosevelt DeRamus were my greatest influencers. They were young and gifted in so many way's that they could have decided to take off and leave the family that they started to pursue other things because they married so young and a lot of couples were beginning to do just that; but my Mom and Dad had faith and perseverance in spite of hardships and opposition. I learned what Faith is from them and what it looks like which is 'to Trust' and I am eternally grateful for them. My Husband has had a profound influence on me by demonstrating focus and tenacity which does not waver under pressure. One of my favorite writers is Harper Lee the Pulitzer Prize winner and Author of To Kill a Mocking Bird
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Aretha Franklin will always be one of my top musical inspirations hands down. I had the pleasure of working with her and I learned a lot from her, especially her approach to difficult situations. She carried a lot on her shoulder's but she was light on her feet in so many ways. There was more to her than the eye could see. People love to paint her in their colors and hue's but their colors and hues are knock off's compared to who she actually was. She had many facets I wish the World could have seen.
