AIM for Addition and Subtraction Complete Kit

The AIM program from Demme Learning is designed to address the problem of foundational math weaknesses in older students. These students typically rely on ineffective strategies such as counting and tallying - which lose effectiveness and become a stumbling block as students advance in math instruction - to complete fundamental math computation. The AIM program replaces these inefficient methods and processes with more effective strategies based on number relationships and reasoning. These strategies provide solid conceptual understanding and allow facts to be stored in long-term visual memory for quick retrieval. AIM for Addition and Subtraction specifically addresses gaps in mastery of single-digit addition and subtraction facts. Successful completion of the AIM program helps restore students' confidence and provides students with the necessary skills to successfully solve more complex problems.

Twenty-two lessons involve collaborative work between instructor and student using an intentional sequence and approach. The strategies taught in each lesson are reinforced with activities effectively structured to promote student success and self-advocacy. Throughout the program, the student has the opportunity to replace negative emotions regarding math with confidence.

This kit includes everything you need to complete the AIM for Addition and Subtraction program:

• AIM Resource Guide: a step-by-step guide that includes the techniques, components, and instruction for presenting fact strategies and practicing for mastery. Includes program overview, lesson instruction, and more.

• Math-U-See Integer Blocks, integrated within the lessons and strategies
• Math-U-See Colored Pencils, aligned with the integer block colors
• Math Fact Strategy Posters, a visual reminder of addition fact strategies
• Fact Check Cards, used in most AIM lessons for planning instruction and assessing mastery
• Set includes a code to redeem access to the AIM for Addition and Subtraction Digital Pack. Note: The Digital Pack includes lesson videos, instruction, solutions, and printable resources. Internet access is required for successful implementation of the AIM program.

  Please note: there was a backwards-and-forwards compatible update to the Digital Resource Pack which means it may not align precisely with the printed Resource Guides from 2019 & 2020 - but does not prevent the course from being completed with those guides.
