Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a Roman Catholic missionary and priest, for many years teaching at our seminary & school of theology.

What was your motivation behind this project?  There are so many people who hear the call of Christ and consider themselves Christian. They don't belong to any particular Christian church or denomination but would like to put their faith into practice in their daily lives. This book examines seven traditional yet timeless channels through which disciples can put their faith into action.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope that the book will allow disciples to mature in their faith. This book does not proselytize but it does try to nurture one's existing Christian faith.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  Since I'm a professor of Christian spirituality and early Christian studies, I'm always open to learning more about our Christian tradition. The final chapter on Christian nonviolence was especially enlightening for me.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  The classical authors of Christian spirituality especially interest me (Theresa of Avila, "The Cloud of Unknowing" and many others). I do read more contemporary works but have no real favorites among them.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Those interested will find me on X @josephtlabelle where I offer very short daily scriptural reflections.
