Youth workers, Sunday School teachers, and craft enthusiasts will find a complete kit for creating 24 Footprints in the Sand keepsakes. Kit includes cardboard foot, glitter, glue and tacky glue, cardboard easel back, sand, shells, and Footprints imprinted on parchment paper, with detailed instructions. You will need scissors, ruler, optional brushes and paper covered work surface; kit contains 24 sets; recommended for children 6 years and up.
Footprints had very good quality shells for a packaged set. This was used for 2nd. grade children and they found it easy and fun to do and the end product was something they would want to keep at home.
Kids enjoyed it....needed to purchase extra tacky glue for shells as the school glue does not hold as well. We also had to use magnets for the back...once shells were on the foot the stand did not hold it up...suggestion..do not even bother with the stand.
The idea for this project was great, however the shells that came with my kit were huge. They show small ones on the package with a few large ones...I only had enough small to make one. I decided to make one before I brought them to work on them with my son's Christian preschool class, and thankfully I did. The backing (easel cardboard) was not sturdy enough to even hold up the foot alone, let alone with the huge shells that were sent. I wound up only using the feet, sand and paper poems in the kit and had to run to Michael's to buy smaller shells and magnets to put on the back. It also said it was a 24 pack and I only received 19, luckily the class only has 11 kids so that was okay, but I was extremely disappointed. I was surprised that this kit got such good reviews. It caused me a lot of headache and running around that I hadn't planned on, perhaps they began cutting costs and cut the cost of quality. That being said the kids really enjoyed the project. Its just too bad it was made so cheaply that I had to improvise and buy my own stuff. It could have been a great project had the contents been sufficient to actually make them.
