Publisher's Description

JESUS THE CHRIST. Prophet. Priest. King.Jesus challenged common assumptions in his day. Is he doing the same today?Following Jesus: Prophet, Priest, King draws from biblical history to explore the origin and significance of three Old Testament offices and the way Jesus both fulfills and redefines them in a manner no one expected:Jesus the prophet cries out for and establishes justice.Jesus the priest mediates to us a God we never expected.Jesus the king offers to us a politic all his own.Join Tim Gaines, Kara Lyons-Pardue, and other biblical scholars, pastors, and theologians from around the globe as they invite us to re-envision a cross-bearing Jesus—the prophet, priest, and king who upends our preconceptions about his life and ministry.
