momoffour2 Stars Out Of 5Okay but leaves many holesJuly 27, 2017momoffourQuality: 3Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I was hoping for a good overview of art history, unfortunately this book has major holes in it. I can overlook the fact that it started art history with the Renaissance, even though that leaves out the Greco-Roman and Medieval art that has influenced artists for centuries. It also left out many of the Masters: Donatello, Raphael, Rembrandt, Pissarro, Manet, and Renoir to name a few. I have had to spend countless hours researching and trying to fill in the areas left vacant by this resource. In the 20th Century portion of the book, many obscure artists are used and when an on-line search is done to see their art, it is their social activism that take center stage. While nothing is wrong with social activism, artist have used art for centuries to get a message across, I would have liked more of the true Masters included instead.
