5 Stars Out Of 5
December 15, 2010
For those who might be wondering why Flyleaf has listed this EP as being their last for until at least October 2011, It is because Lacey and her husband Joshua are expecting a baby boy who will be born early 2011. Now that I have unburdened myself of that Flyleaf trivia, ON TO THE REVIEW! Ok, so this is a lengthy EP, having a 7 song list, but the reason for this is that some of these are old unreleased songs and Flyleaf threw in a couple new ones like "Light In Your Eyes". Justice and Mercy is different from the original, being much softer, but I think it's better. Okay has a very rock sound even though the music itself is light, and fans of their heavier stuff will appreciate this... I do anyway! Light In Your Eyes is a beautiful love song that reminds us that "God is on our side". I Believe In Dreams was released on their first self-titled album, this is a newer version, and Lacey's vocals make this one slightly better than the original. Amy Says... wow, what can I say about a song this perfect... Lacey tells the story of a girl coming to God and how she needs to listen to that still small voice (This song is NOT about Evenescence singer Amy Lee... not sure if Amy Lee is even a Christian anymore). Dear My Closest Friend tells of a person who apologizes to a friend for a time when they weren't there for them, it is a lovely song that almost reminds me of "Apologize" by OneRepublic. Arise was on Memento Mori, however it is back with a harder drum beat, and makes it a tad more rock... not sure if I like it as much as the original, but I definately do like it! All in all Remeber To Live (or Memeto Vivere) brings some of Flyleaf's heart and soul to the surface and show us a side of them we might not have seen other wise. Worship, Love, and Forgiveness are themes here, and they compact wonderfully on this EP. Flyleaf's cover of How He Loves will come out on December 21, 2010, and will be sold by major retailers, so we still have something to look forward to after this EP, but theres enough on Remeber To Live to tide me over until whenever they start writing and producing again. Anyway, all this to say that this EP is AMAZING!
