While the quality and information in this book is great it is definitely not for younger kids as advertised. After reading reviews of people saying they used this with their kindergarten children this is the one I chose for my kindergartner. I am not happy I spent the money as it now sits on the bookshelf unused because it is way to advanced for younger kids. There are words in there that I myself struggled with and unfortunately it is not suited for younger children. I must add that my son is very advanced, we started school a month after he turned 5 and he is able to do 1st grade reading and math so going by them recommending this for 1st graders he would fit that criteria, and honestly I'm not sure how well this would work for my 4th grader either. Even the activities do not interest my son and is not enough to engage him to want to do this book. I am not sure how you would fit zoology 1, 2, and 3 in before 6th grade, at least not in order as recommended because this book would need to be done around 5th-6th grade level by itself.
I love this science curriculum. it has notebooking activities (sold in a separate journal), pauses after sections for review questions (tell what u learned), puzzles at end of lessons, creation confirmations, experiments, reports/projects and detailed info with a variety of subject matter to choose from. I am a former, high school science teacher & can confirm the validity of the book info.
I started home-schooling my four children in 1996. Without a doubt, I can honestly say that in my own school experience and practically 20 years of home-schooling that this is the most enjoyable science book I have ever read. I am thrilled with it. This book is not boring or repetitive and is full of interesting, fun information. Thank you, Jeannie Fulbright! I wish I had these books for my first three children.

This is an absolutely beautiful book. Very good quality. Lots of beautiful pictures. My only concern is like a lot of other text books it's a kind of one size fits all. I got this for a 3rd grader and I think there is a bit too much information in this textbook for her. In the first lessons it goes into things like Latin names that I have difficulty with and I went to college. I'm not saying don't get this curriculum for younger students. Do keep in mind though that you may have to pick and choose out of it for younger students. I'm not sorry I bought this curriculum. It's beautiful and I love the way it reads. It gives glory to our Creator which I love. We only just started it this week in our home school and I will have to go slow. Probably a higher level 3rd grader would do OK with it, but in my humble opinion it might be better to wait until at least 4th grade. I also purchased the Jr Notebook to go along with it. It is beautiful as well. I highly recommend this curriculumm but just be aware that it could be a little much for younger children.
