Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Enchanting From Beginning to End!March 30, 2015Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Absolutely enchanting; beginning with clever acrobatic introductions on the precipice of a building and ending with the start of a wish-come-true in the same locale. Two wonderful characters, heiress Flora Brimm and Pinkerton agent Lucas McMinn, are delightfully at odds with each other over the slippery and quite nefarious Will Tucker, whose appearances and disappearances cause quite a stir through-out the chapters of this novel.
Flora Brimm just has to get married; her future and the future of her family depends on it. If she has not produced an heir by her cousin's thirtieth birthday, the family's beautiful estate, as well as the ensured care of her sister will be in jeopardy. Flora's fianc Will Tucker holds the proverbial key; even though theirs will be a contractual marriage of ultimate convenience.
Lucas McMinn is on the hunt for Tucker; he is a known thief, preying on beautiful, young, wealthy women. When he discovers that Tucker's most recent fiance is in possession of stolen jewelry he places Flora Brimm in custody until he can discern just how much she really knows about Will Tucker; who she continually insists is innocent of all charges.
The ensuing chapters are delightful; bringing out the best and the worst of two individuals who must decide if they work better together or apart. Quite frankly, I did not want this story to end!

This book has a little bit of everything, which is exactly what I hope for. All though I would up the danger a little more (but, thats just me).

Flora Brimm aka Fatal Flora has had and lost 5 fiancs to death! She is attempting to marry a 6th, Will Tucker, before the terms of her grandfathers will expire and she loses her family home to her cousin.
However, Lucas McMinn, a handsome Irish Pinkerton agent, is hunting Will Tucker for nefarious activities, which throws a huge wrench in Floras plans. He is also an inventor, and his inventions are used to aid his detective skills. That was a fun addition to the story! Lucas takes Flora into custody and a whirlwind adventure ensues. These two have wonderful chemistry and depth and I greatly enjoyed them. There is plenty of humor and faith/praying as well. There are several typos in the book, which I needed to overlook, since the story is quite good.
Favorite Quote: pg. 20 Its not done. At least not by a Brimm, of course. Grandmama looked as if she had given the ultimate answer to all responses. Of course, in her circle, it was the ultimate response. Some things just werent done. Flora made a note to dance in the rain at her earliest opportunity. Not to show Grandmama, but to take one item off the list of things that just werent done by Brimms.
I purchased this copy. My opinion is my own and without compensation. I will rate it 5 stars for the story, but would drop a 1/2 star for editing if that were allowed.

Romance should be for true love. Sometimes this is overlooked by the elite.
Flora kept losing her intended before she could wed them. So people were calling her Fatal Flora.
A Pinkerton Agent arrests Flora for trying to arrest her intended. He gets more than he bargains for. He finds himself falling for her.
Yet out of all the bad circumstances, good happens. A miracle takes place for Flora's sister, Violet.
Lucas, the Agent, had been shot and all Flora's dreams were dying. But in the end Flora's wife comes true.

Flora aka Fatal Flora has lost four fiancés, and is now engaged to her fifth. Lucas McMinn, Pinkerton agent/inventor believes Flora has assisted her fiancé in a robbery and stays close on her tail, hoping she will lead him to thief, Will Tucker.
The chemistry between Lucas and Flora is delicious, and it's fun to watch her challenge him constantly and to watch their relationship grow over the course of the story. Although I don't often read books about high society folk, I thoroughly enjoyed Flora's Wish.
An Old Fashioned GirlMinnesotaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A delightful rompJuly 23, 2013An Old Fashioned GirlMinnesotaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Kathleen Y'Barbo starts off her new series, "The Secret Lives of Will Tucker," with a delightful romp up and down the Mississippi in her novel "Flora's Wish." Suffering from an errant fiancé whose job supposedly keeps interfering with the wedding plans, Fatal Flora (of the now five fiancés, assuming she can keep this one alive, unlike the previous four) finds herself an object of intense suspicion by Lucas McMinn, a Pinkerton agent out to capture the conman Will Tucker - Flora's current fiancé. Under Lucas' custody and practically shackled to the man, Flora and the agent pursue Will Tucker from Natchez to New Orleans and back, one to prove his innocence, the other to prove his guilt.
Flora really comes up with a doozy of a plan to save her family home from passing on to an irresponsible relative. Since she has to marry and produce an heir before her cousin turns thirty, she is in rather dire straits, given that she has had four fiancés perish before reaching the altar. In order to make it happen, she makes a contract with a man whom she scarcely knows and plans to spring the marriage on her family fait accompli. Thankfully for her, God has a significantly better plan, even if she has to be arrested, jailed, and basically held captive first to work it out. While her love of her family is commendable - and she's performing this mad scheme for them, not herself - not even they approve of the lengths to which she goes to preserve their lives for them. Her predicament is also typical of following one's own plans and not God's - a complete mess.
"Flora's Wish" is a delightfully humorous tale and a cute love story. Flora and Lucas have a great many sparring matches, playing off each other really well and sparking great entertainment for the reader. The secondary characters are as fun as the main - Grandmamma is a spectacular lady (quite possibly my favorite character), and even the hotel staff have personality. I look forward to the installment of Will Tucker's schemes.
