KimdeBlecourtAge: 45-54Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5How to Life-launch Your Children in a God-honoring WayMarch 30, 2018KimdeBlecourtAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5With wit, transparency, and tears, Brenda Yoder guides parents to consider how they can best encourage their children to begin their lives outside of their home with confidence and grace (while consoling their parental hearts in the process). Brenda utilizes her counseling degree, love for Gods word, and personal experience to accomplish what is sure to become a standard for this time of every familys life a book on raising a family, only to let them go. There are five sections to this much needed parent handbook Giving Up Control, Setting Boundaries, Building Family Ties, Accepting Mid-life with Grace, and Preparing for the Transition to an Empty Nest Marriage. The titles speak for themselves and pave the way to discussion and questions suitable for self-study or small groups. I have not only added this to my personal library, but have purchased a copy for my church library, as well this is simply too good not to share. Highly recommended resource.
JJ5 Stars Out Of 5HopefulMarch 29, 2018JJQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I don't want to face the fact that my teenagers will soon leave the home. I was sure I'd be sad when reading this book, but instead of sadness, I was filled with hope. Instead of burying my head in the sand, I am going to seek wisdom and follow Yoder's advice and soak up her encouragement. She is a mom with experience but I never felt like she was preaching from a high place. I loved the stories of her family woven throughout the pages.

Elizabeth5 Stars Out Of 5FledgeMarch 28, 2018ElizabethQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I knew in the first few paragraphs that I was in good hands. You know those other parenting books--the ones that give you "five steps" to being a better parent, the ones that give you more lists of things to accomplish--that raise your anxiety that you are not, and can never be enough. The ones that leave you feeling more alone? This in not that book. Yoder is a true guide and mentor. She's lived her own experiences parenting--she's been there--she gives language to the grief and mom guilt that are all too common--and yet, points you to the light--the hard earned true light and joy that go side by side with the pain and struggle. And she holds your hand like a true friend the whole time.
Heartfelt book for parents in all stages of the journey.
