Tell us a little about yourself.  I want to share with kids what I so have loved all my life; animals, nature and their significance. I have always had an instant bond with kids! I guess I still think like a kid!

The key to bringing nature and animals to kids is meet them at their level of interest. God has blessed me with two loves; His Son, Jesus Christ who is my Savior and Lord and the secondly He has blessed me with a hunger to give children an opportunity to meet God in a real and personal way. Animals and Nature are a sure focus-factor! Writing for kids magazines was my first venue to do just that. Most of those acceptance letters came from Christian magazines. Writing non-fiction for kids has been the Lord’s priceless gift to me.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I had such fun writing non-fiction articles for Christian and secular magazines. But there was a long-standing prayer to write a book for kids. About four years ago, my husband, Thomas, shared an idea he had been praying about. He said, “Why not take all you know and all you have written about and place it in the way of a kid’s devotional.” Immediately I embraced it! That is what I was going to do! I began asking the Lord for all the ideas for the book and He hooked me up with people to accomplish this unique devotional. As the book began to take on its own unique quality, I kept seeing glimpses of how it might be used in the hands of both kids and their parents.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I want children to discover how much they are loved by their Creator and that He has a unique plan for them. When kids can place their faith, trust, and hope in God at an early age, He will be like an anchor assuring them of His love when the storms of life come through. With their Bibles and Give Me Five for Fangs, Feathers, and Faith, it is my prayer that children will begin to uncover the tender, unconditional love and mercy that is found in a personal relationship with God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I had been writing for children as I said for years in the secular and faith-based market so when this began to take shape, my faith took on another level. Christ in me was what this book was about. Jesus was Lord of me and Lord of this book- He showed me that nothing will thwart His plans - not even my ADAD! I discovered that though I am so distractible - it was not me writing this book. He would make it just write for the children/adults He would have it placed into their hands and used for their eternity and His glory. I can do nothing; nothing alone, but IN CHRIST and He in me- all things are possible!

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Children. Children were my inspirations. Animals and all God's creation which I have always been drawn into was my influence!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  To all who continue to seek after truth is why Christ had me to write all my articles and now this book. Please never stop seeking after TRUTH; Jesus said, "I am the truth, the way, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by (way of) me."John 14:6
