Physical Strength Can Only Take You So Far
Reigning CrossFit World Champion Rich Froning is “The Fittest Man on Earth.” He’s fast. He’s strong. And he’s incredibly disciplined. But it takes more than physical strength to compete and win at an elite level. It takes incredible mental and spiritual toughness as well. And it is the precise balance of all three that makes Rich Froning a champion.

In First, readers come alongside Rich as he trains for and competes in back-to-back-to-back CrossFit World Championships. Along the way, Rich shares invaluable training tips, motivational techniques, and spiritual insights that, in keeping with the CrossFit philosophy, will prepare you to respond to any real-life physical, mental and spiritual challenge.

This book is the story of Rich Froning, two time Cross Fit Champion. It is a story of faith and trust, Rich tells how he is addicted to Cross Fit and how his faith in GOD is the real reason he is able to compete and give encouragement to others on a daily basis. It tells how he starts out in childhood living on a farm and his father making him do many chores that he feels is not worth wild doing, but as he gets older and in competition he realizes how it all plays part in his life. Rich tells how he has put GOD first and how everything he does is all GOD's plan. His life verse is Galatians 6:14 and tells how he uses it for GOD's purpose.

I enjoyed this journey of Rich's life and his commitment to spread the word of GOD. I would recommend this book to all ages. I found it to be very refreshing and meaningful, Rich's statement of how it is all in our minds and most of the time our body's hold back because of minds saying we can't do it. If you put it on your mind and do it for GOD then you can make anything happen.

This is the story of Rich Froning, who is an athlete who won the CrossFit Games in 2011 and 2012. The book chronicles his early years and then discusses his faith and CrossFit. I thought the book was interesting, particularly since I'd never heard of CrossFit. The athletic program has been around less than 20 years (I had to look that up) and there are gyms with that program worldwide, including some in my state. I was glad that there were "CrossFit explained" sections in the book, and a "Common CrossFit Terms" section in the back of the book, as most of the terms were unfamiliar to me. The photos were nice to see as well.

The book, First, is the true story of Rich Froning's Life starting out when he was a child. He was raised by hard-working parents who taught him how to work hard for a living while still taking time to be there for God, family, and friends. As he grew up, he struggled with the questions that most do: who am I? What is my purpose? What kind of legacy will I leave? As a young adult, he found the answers to his questions through CrossFit. Before reading this book, I had never heard of CrossFit nor who Rich Froning was and now that I have heard of both these things, I found it to be interesting. What I really liked about the book is that the author seems to be very humble despite his success and athletic abilities. I find this to be a rare quality among athletes today. I also liked reading how he puts God first in his life and how he uses a tattoo to remind himself of who he is and Who he serves. Though this is not my type of book, I did find it inspiring and very well-written. Rich Froning seems to have a passion for God and he seems like a good witness for Christ in the athletic world. I think that this book would appeal to anyone who loves fitness and CrossFit.
