First Start French is designed for students in grades 3-8, or as a gentle introduction for older students. Based on a four-day/week schedule, students are gradually introduced to vocabulary, dialogue and grammar before review, translation exercises, grammar questions and quiz review questions. Thirty minutes is recommended for each day, depending upon the child's ability. Students will learn about pronouns, negatives, asking questions, prepositions, comparisons, verbs, French culture and more, for a complete beginning course in French vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Written work is supplemented with an audio CD that includes vocabulary, French songs and a pronunciation guide.
The teacher's guide contains information critical to teaching the course, as well as reduced student pages surrounded with direction and lesson notes. Correct answers are overlaid in blue ink. 128 pages, softcover.
