Publisher's Description

Will pride and prejudice keep the Blank sisters from finding love?

With five daughters and no sons, Daed and Maem Blank are anxious to find their girls suitors who might eventually take over their family farm. When news arrives that Charles Beachey, the son of a prominent Amish farmer, will be returning from Ohio with his cousin Frederick, they are hopeful that the young men might be good matches for their daughters.

The oldest daughter, Jane, starts courting Charles, a well-mannered and very respectful young man, but her younger sister Lizzie is not interested in either courtship or Frederick. In fact, she wants nothing to do with him, finding him full of pride and disdain for her family’s way of life. But in a community and culture where pride is scorned, Lizzie must learn that first impressions can be dangerous and people are not always who they seem to be.

This Amish retelling of the popular Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice is a beautiful take on the power of love to overcome class boundaries and prejudices that will win your heart.

What a wonderful book! I loved how Sarah Price wove Jane Austen's novel of Pride and Prejudice with the Amish way of living and faith in Christ. Lizzie put her life completely into the Lord's hands as she knew that He always is in control.

I just finished "First Impressions" by Sarah Price and loved it. I got the movie Pride and Prejudice well actually 2, just not sure which one would be the best to watch) from the library so now I am going to read a little bit of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, which is what Sarah's book is based on but an Amish version, then watch the movie tonight or tomorrow. I don't have to read Jane Austin's book to understand Sarah's book, but being the addict ( book) I am you all know I must read the inspiration for Sarah's book.

With all the above said I give " First Impressions" by Sarah Price five stars. Sarah took a classic (one that I haven't read and made me want to read it). I haven't finished reading the classic or watched the movie but from what I have read and watched I can see that Sarah followed the book but from an amish point of view. Once again I am glad that Sarah's book did not disappoint this reader.

If you have read the classics " Pride and Prejuice" by Jane Austin then you will want to read " First Impressions" by Sarah Price, and even if you haven't but you love the Amish genre you will want to add this book to your library. If you are a Sarah Price fan you will definitely want to read, or better yet own this book.

This is a love story between Elizabeth and Frederick Detweiler but they don't like each other at first. The main reason is that they think each other to full of pride. Elizabeth has four sisters and her mother wants them to get married and makes sure every one knows. This story shows that "First Impressions" are sometimes wrong.

I was given a pfd file for my honest review and I have given it and I don't usually buy a book if I have a copy in any form but this one will be the exception I will buy an ebook and it will have a place of honor in my kindle library. Well done Sarah Price!

Sarah Price has done it again, leaving my in AWE after reading one of her books and spiritually filled. GOD has surely blessed Sarah Price with a gift of writing and to write His messages even if they are fictional.

I truly loved Sarah Price's version of Pride and Prejudice over the original. It was a page turner and makes you want to read the whole book in one sitting.

In the Amish culture the oldest son or youngest son is to inherit the family farm --depending on the district depends on which son, oldest or youngest, is to inherit the farm. If you live in Lancaster County, PA or Holmes County, PA farm land is very limited to purchase. The Amish like plenty of farmland. Farmland can be divided when it comes time for son to build his house and farm, and to be able to repeat tradition later on.

The Blank household were blessed with five daughters and no son to pass the family farm to. With all five of the daughters close to courting age, Maem (Mom) Blank is really pushing the issue of marriage. Maem Blank gets really excited when the family gets a letter learning that the neighboring farm will be occupied by the owner's son and nephew, whom are bachelors.

First Impressions: An Amish Tale of Pride and Prejudice is just that first impressions. Are first impressions on the outside accurate to what is truly on the inside?

"First Impressions" is the first in The Amish Classics Series by Sarah Price. The story parallels Jane Austen's "Pride & Prejudice." The author has blended a compelling story of Amish tradition and values with integrity and familiarity. Based in Leola, Pennsylvania with glimpses into Holmes County, Ohio, the similarities and differences within the Amish communities are well defined and factual. The Amish culture is steeped in tradition and rich in history as detailed by the author who knows her topic well. Written with a familiarity that only living within the community can provide, the author has penned a convincing novel that is rich in detail and represents depth in her characters.

The landscapes in both Amish communities are described in a pictorial design transporting the reader to the locale, enabling one to visualize the settings through rich and descriptive elements. Detailing is paramount in this novel, both in fact and fiction. Relationships and romance develop in a natural and believable progression while emotional events are interwoven throughout the plot. Faith and reconciliation are important aspects of this tale of overcoming pride and prejudices that stem from misunderstanding and erroneous assumptions.

Sarah Price has developed her craft and come into her own as an author. "First Impressions" has elevated her to the novelist category in my estimation. I highly recommend "First Impressions," the first in her Amish Classics Series. I was engrossed in this story and found it very difficult to put the book aside when life interrupted my reading. Don't miss this beautifully told story of pride and prejudice!

I must say that this was a wonderful story and the way Sarah tells it is really amazing. You will feel as if you are right there with the Blank family. Sarah made me stop and think about how many times I have had to change my opinion of someone after a first impression. As I get older I like to think that I have changed and try to give a person a chance before forming my opinion. Keep in mind that it works both ways on forming opinions, it isn't always thinking bad about someone and having to change your mind but beware of people you think will be trustworthy but turn out to be just the opposite.

I would recommend "First Impressions" to anyone that likes Amish stories, stories of faith and if you liked "Pride and Prejudice". The second book in the series, "The Matchmaker" will be out February, 3, 2015 and I'm anxiously waiting for it.
