This book and Overeaters Anonymous has saved my life. OA is a spiritual program. This book in particular is the WHY and HOW of getting abstinent from sugar, wheat and flour. These were the bondages of compulsive overeating and food addiction for me. It is a realistic program. I know many who continue using her food plan to remain happy, joyous, and free from compulsive overeating today. Three years later I have lost 100lbs and kept it off. This is a feat I could not accomplish through any other program or diet. I thank God for OA and Kay Sheppard today.
This book and the program it suggested was completely unrealistic. First of all, it is practically impossible to eat at restaurants and secondly, it forbids all sugar of any kind (even Splenda) Probably most offensive to me was the fact that the author fails to mention that food addictions are spiritual strongholds and that not every addiction comes from our surroundings. I would recommend Love to Eat Hate to Eat rather than From the First Bite.
