The characters are credible; you want to find out more about them. At the same time, you feel as if you might know one or two of them already. You may even find yourself rooting for them. The attention to detail takes you right into each scenario. If you've never been in the deep South, you'll know what a piece of it's like after reading this. If you have been there, this will take you back. Firing Squad is not a short story but is a fast read if you find yourself not able to put it down. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a few of them to give as Christmas presents.
