We waited for a while to start this study, but now seeing it was worth the wait!

The women's Bible study group I facilitate at our church began this study this summer. We had considered it in the past, but it wasn't the one selected, and now we see that it was God's timing that we do it now. SO many women have already expressed how the book is relating to their own journeys, and are really enjoying the read! Have heard comments about the "readability" of the book, in that the writer's style is real, conversational and engaging. I personally love the journal pages at the end of each chapter, that make the content applicable to each individual's current "wait." Before our study began, I had read a few chapters and it has proven to be very relevant in my own life, and that of my co-facilitator. I especially like how the author reports on the progress of the "wait" of several women, including herself, throughout the book. By having several women's situations used to illustrate how to "wait well," any women can relate to the types of emotions and possible responses various challenges in light elicit as these same women traveled the path the book is inviting each of us onto.

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, Wait and See by Wendy Pope is a giant jawbreaker. This sweet candy takes hours upon hours to get through, revealing layers of different colors and flavors. This candy trains patience.

Wendy Pope unpacks what a waiting season can be like with personal stories (her own and others). Better yet, she prompts you to consider how you can use your waiting period to prepare for the day you arrive at the eventual destination. At the end of each chapter, Pope includes a short portion that incorporates scripture reading to further support her points and encouragement.

Personally, this book helped me put a name to the uncomfortable season that I find myself in. I'm smack dab in a waiting season, and I now have active ways to grow in my wait. Pope's writing style felt like a conversation, and I appreciate that she could draw from her own experience to encourage me in mine. This is not a hurry-up-to-your-destination book. And at the end, she doesn't give you a "get out of jail free" card, but she does give you the tools to live well in your wait.

I used this book as a gentle addition to my time spent with God, and I think I worked through a chapter in 2-3 days.

WAIT AND SEE is, as the title says, for those who are waiting. I know the perfect person to gift my copy to as they are in a period of waiting. Actually, I know several people this book will fit, so I may be buying gift copies!

Ms. Pope knows about waiting. She had many periods of waiting in her life. In fact, at first as I thumbed through it, I thought it had a whiny feel, and that kind of annoyed me. I don't want to read a book about her whining about this and that and the next thing. But once I settled in to actually read the book, Ms. Pope takes the time to dissect her whines and turn them into ministering opportunities to help others who are waiting for whatever they are waiting for.

This book is a good book for anyone who maybe waiting for God to hear them and answer their prayers. Good for church libraries and Christian counselors, among others.

More than a "wait training" book!

"Wait and See" is so much more than a "wait training" book; it's a book about growing in humility, surrendering self and becoming more like Jesus. With both rare and raw honesty, Wendy Pope opens her life, inviting you to respond by asking God to search your own heart for His revelation in seasons of waiting. "Wait and See" is also a call to thirst for a relationship with the Lord, becoming "so well acquainted with God" that when the time comes to act, with our minds girded with Scripture and our hearts with prayer, we will instantly and radically obey and the outcome will be "living to the fullest the life God planned for you." Wendy reminds us of the battle plan, armor and weapons needed to actively war against the enemy in our wait. We also need to recognize that God is never inactive or unresponsive when it comes to His children. He is always working and can always be trusted. Scripture, personal experience, Bible study and application combine to make this book not only a resource, but a journal in which God writes the next chapter of your story. As Wendy shares, don't rush your wait and know that God is good!
