Tara5 Stars Out Of 5Getting back on course in lifeJune 8, 2021TaraEveryone can find themselves lost in life or their relationship with God. We can become confused, frustrated, disappointed, and discouraged. We can be unsure of our purpose, significance, calling, and path in life. I know I have felt this way in my life and felt like quitting or giving up. This is where Christine Caine's book How Did I Get Here? finds us. Christine wrote this book when she was in a place of chaos, uncertainty, and ready to quit. How Did I Get Here? is a book on drifting in our faith and our relationship with God. Based on Hebrews 2:1-4 this book deals with 8 ways that point to drifting in our faith and away from God - such as "You Know You've Drifted When...You Stop Healing and You Start Seeping or You Know You've Drifted When...You Stop Praying and You Start Talking." The chapters contain personal stories, personal revelation, Scripture, encouragement, and ways to get back on course in our faith.
This book is an inspiration and encouragement to me letting me know I am not alone when I drift in my faith, doubt God, and find myself frustrated or disappointed in my life. I recommend this book to everyone - those who are lost or disappointed with their lives, those who are ready to quit and ring the bell, and even those who are confident and satisfied with their lives. We can find ourselves in these categories at different times or seasons of our lives. This book can help us be aware of when we get off course in our faith and guide us back to where we are called to be in life and our relationship with God. I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Shera8985 Stars Out Of 5Timely!June 8, 2021Shera898Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is one of the most timely reads! Life happens to us all, and I know very few who can say it's a smooth, easy ride. If life has jolted you, Christine Caine is talking to YOU. How Did I Get Here is a compassionate, compelling invitation to take an honest assessment of how we may have found ourselves exhausted, fearful, disappointed, numb, etc. when we thought we were serving the God who promises peace, joy, and abundant life. While reading, I was often brought to tears because FINALLY someone was addreasing the issues I always thought must be "just me" and should be kept secret. It was like having an older friend or sister say, "I know you. You're not alone. You're still okay. You can get through this." I can't recommend How Did I Get Here enough! Women, men, older, younger, any stage of life, individuals, families, friends, small groups, etc. This book is for everyone.
kperry5 Stars Out Of 5Tools to get back on trackJune 8, 2021kperryQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was part of the book launch team for How Did I Get Here? by Christine Caine. This book is a great reminder that at some point in our walk with the Lord, we all lose sight of what should be our goal. If you have found yourself drifting, questions, not connecting with God as you used to or never have, I encourage you to give this book a read. I myself over the past year have felt myself slipping away and out of habitats, some to do with the pandemic and for other reasons I can't name. Thank you Christine for putting everything into perceptive and giving me tools to get back on track.
JenDawn5 Stars Out Of 5Much needed book!June 7, 2021JenDawnQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've asked myself this question before but especially lately...How Did I Get Here? I was burned out, exhausted and studying to be a licensed minister. I was asking myself why I was working so hard to take these courses and wondering if I was going to even continue. Little did I know that when I signed up to be on the launch team for this book that my life would change so dramatically and quickly. A series of personal situations peaked with suddenly becoming the sole caregiver for my frail, disabled elderly mother. I'm single so I work a full time job. Even though I questioned it I longed to finish my courses. I found myself relating entirely as I digitally turned each page. Christine pours her heart out with such transparency and candor. She captains the ship with grace and empathy. She expertly navigates through the choppy and often times harrowing waters as only someone who has been there can do. She doesn't let you chart those waters alone. She understands and warns of the danger zones that can lead to life altering decisions to throw in the towel. She offers hope and provides steps to set our anchors correctly. I learned that there is no shame in drifting. The key is getting back on course. Especially helpful is how she teaches to identify our markers. We can't know if we've drifted if we don't know where our "homebase" is. We have the option to "ring the bell" but is that what we want? I don't! I don't want to quit. I want to finish my race for the glory of God. You may or may not be struggling right now. Chances are you know someone who is. You never know what people are hiding behind their smiles. Get this book, read it, absorb it and share it! It's a mega dose of vitamins for your spirit and soul. The words of wisdom in this book have the potential to get you back on track, change your life and affect the destiny of those around you. It depends on you putting it into action.
Linda G5 Stars Out Of 5Real struggles and real hopeJune 7, 2021Linda GQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was able to read an advance copy of this book as part of a launch team. It is so raw and real! Christine is so relatable in her struggles with drifting from God. Struggles we all have and we could have drifted so far we don't even realize where we are anymore. My first book read of Chris's and I really enjoyed it. She is always such an inspirational speaker too and in her speaking she never dives this deep into her personal feelings and struggles. This made the book such a surprise. But in a good way, like you have a new friend.
