Fearless takes you deep into SEAL Team SIX, straight to the heart of one of its most legendary operators.
When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didnt know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistanbut he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, "Im not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me."
Long before Adam Brown became a member of the elite SEAL Team SIXthe counterterrorism unit that took down Osama bin Ladenhe was a fun-loving country boy from Hot Springs, Arkansas, whose greatest goal had been to wear his high schools football jersey. An undersized daredevil, prone to jumping off roofs into trees and off bridges into lakes, Adam was a kid who broke his own bones but would never break a
promise to his parents.
But after high school, Adam fell in with the wrong crowd, and his family watched as his appetite for risk dragged him into a downward spiral that eventually landed him in jail. Battling his inner demons on a last-chance road to redemption, Adam had one goal: to become the best of the besta U.S. Navy SEAL.
An absorbing chronicle of heroism and humanity, Fearless presents an indelible portrait of a highly trained warrior who would enter a village with weapons in hand to hunt terrorists, only to come back the next day with an armload of shoes and meals for local children. It is a deeply personal, revealing glimpse inside the SEAL Team SIX brotherhood that also shows how these elite operators live out the rest of their lives, away from danger, as husbands, fathers, and friends.
Fearless is the story of a man of extremes, whose courage and determination was fueled by faith, family, and the love of a woman. Its about a man who waged a war against his own worst impulses and persevered to reach the top tier of the U.S. military. Always the first to volunteer for the most dangerous assignments, Adams final act of bravery led to the ultimate sacrifice.
Adam Brown was a devoted man who was an unlikely hero but a true warrior, described by all who knew him as fearless.
ERIC BLEHM is the best-selling author of The Only Thing Worth DyingFor, which recounts the harrowing story of the first Special Forces A-team to infiltrate Taliban-held southern Afghanistan weeks after 9/11. It was a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller. The Last Season, winner of the National Outdoor Book Award, was named by Outside magazine as one of the ten "greatest adventure biographies ever written." Blehm lives in California with his wife and children.
Praise for Fearless
"As a rule, we dont endorse books or movies or anything regarding the command where I workand Adam Brown workedbut as the author writes in Fearless, you have to know the rules, so you know when to bend or break them. This is one of those times. Read this book. Period. It succeeds where all the others have failed."
Anonymous SEAL Team SIX Operator
"Adam Browns zest for life led him down a few dark alleys and more than one dead end. Kind-hearted and wild, Adam led a life that lacked direction. God, a woman, and the U.S. Navy gave it to him. Fearless is a love story...several love stories: a man for his woman, a warrior for his team, parents for kids, and soldiers for their country. There is no greater love than that a man lay down his life for his friends. Be warnedreading Fearless will change the way you see the world."
Stu Weber, veteran Green Beret, pastor, and author of Tender Warrior
"When people know they are going to die, often their one regret is that they didnt say I love you enough. Adam Brown never had to worry. His life was about love: love of God, family, friends, country, his fellow SEALs, and the Afghan children who worshipped him. In his latest book, Fearless, Eric Blehm does a marvelous and moving job uncovering the manthe menbeneath the SEAL mythology of elite, rock-hard warriors, renowned for their courage and skill. The SEALs in Fearless hug their children, seek comfort from their wives, wear Batman briefs, answer to names like Big Bird and Fozzy, mourn lost buddies, and risk their lives to rescue civilians from the field of fire. This is a stirring, revelatory, heartbreaking story."
James Campbell, author of The Last Frontiersman and Ghost Mountain Boys
"This is not another SEAL book about ego; this is a powerful book about perseverance that will absolutely inspire everybody. Adam was a warrior in the truest sensecourageous, compassionate, intrepid, and humble. And his dedication to God, country, family, and the Brotherhood was genuine and exceptional. This book will motivate you to challenge yourself to be…fearless."
SEAL teammate of Adam Brown, BUD/S Class 226
"There is a quote from the Bible etched onto the memorial that stands in the shadow of World Trade Center steel that resembles a massive trident: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" That was Adam Brown. Fearless is a clear and deeply honest portrait of an authentic American man who lived and loved with an intrepid personal velocity. For most of us, the failures and disappointments in life take their toll. Not for Adam Brown. He vanquished all lifes heartbreaks with faith, humility, and hard work. His commitment to his family and his friends helped forge Adam Brown into the rarest of warriors. Long live the Brotherhood."
Kurt Johnstad, screenwriter, Act of Valor and 300
"Fearless stands unique among works of modern combat literature through author Eric Blehms masterful weaving of a fallen Navy SEALs professional war-fighting life with his complex personal victories and travails. Rich in detail and captivating in its honesty, you wont put Fearless down once you read the first page. Read it and prepare to learn a whole new world of life as a Navy SEAL."
Ed Darack, author of Victory Point
"Fearless is a vivid account of one man's journey from all-American boy to all-American hero. Blehm's writing takes you beyond the battlefield and right to the heart of the personal battles, sacrifices, and triumphs of one of America's elite warriors. Anyone looking for an inspiring story of inner strength and courage will be richly rewarded by this book."
Eric Greitens- Former Navy SEAL and New York Times bestselling author of The Heart and the Fist
"Be prepared for the full range of emotions as the true adventures of a real American hero demonstrate that 'with God, all things are possible.'"

Both the highlights and the lowlights are on the pages of the pages of the book not to bring attention to himself but to Jesus. Adam left instructions should he be killed in combat that people know both the skeletons in the closet as well as his accomplishments in his life. I knew going into the book that I would tear up even though Adam is in heaven, no one can read about his family without feeling sad for what they have gone through and maybe yet going through.
The transparency with which the mans life is set before readers is amazing and may leave people speechless but above all it will leave them with hope. When folks read how Adam battled his own demons with his faithful wife Kelley beside him, and became a shining example it will remind us we are still surrounded by a cloud of witnesses as the Book of Hebrews states. Like the men and women in the Scripture you will see the dark part of life Adam lived through, to the heights of serving his country, hometown and family.
When everything around may state there is no hope or evil is making advances, this book will silence the naysayers who say there is no hope or God. I learned a lot not just about the man but this particular branch of service along with the high price families pay for our nation! There are many who need to be reminded that the freedoms enjoyed have come at a high price. Plus the freedom we enjoy can also be used to bring compassion, help and salvation to those lost in the darkness. If you have a person who loves biographies or military people, this one should definitely be a gift for them under the tree.

I guess when I got this book, I was thinking it was from the authors point of view. I like how they let you get to know about Adam in life and in service. This is a great story that takes you in the life of one person. It shows his failures, his triumphs, and his trust in God. It said that his last request was for his testimony to be told, and with this book it has been completed. I love how it has pictures of him as a child throughout his life. It gives pictures of people in the story of life. At the end it leaves his Legacy which is an area where people tell what Adams story meant to them. There is an In Memoriam area that lists lost soldiers. This makes a soldiers life real. It is awesome to know we have such good Christian men fighting overseas. Its sad to hear of such a sweet family losing such a beloved family member; however, its awesome to know his story goes on to inspire. Thank you bloggingforbooks and Waterbrook press for this book in exchange for my honest review.
cathyKansasAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fearless by Eric BlehmAugust 6, 2014cathyKansasAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Fearless by Eric Blehm is a book about the life of Adam Brown. Who may you ask is Adam Brown and why should I read a book about him you may ask. Well Adam Brown was a Navy Seal and that alone tells you that he is a courageous man of valor. A strong man who doesn't back down when the chips are against you. A man who will defend his country and countrymen against enemies both foreign and domestic. But reading this book will tell you about the real man and men of the Navy Seals. This book will introduce the reader to the men behind the legends. This book tells the story of Adam's life. His relationship with his parents and how he was raised to be this Christian man of valor as well as a man of values. This book tells the dirt on Adam of his dark years of drug addiction and his battle to stay clean and sober. This book tells the love story of one man and his wife and his devotion to his children though he was away from them often in the line of duty for his country. This book tells the story of Adam Brown's life from childhood to and through the end of his life at the hands of the Taliban. It tells how a man of honor lives his life and how the families of these men go on to live life after they are taken from us. Adam Brown was a hero though he would never say that about himself--a selfless hero.
To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. This book was hard to read because from the first page the reader is aware that Adam dies at the end. In fact towards the end the book starts to prepare the reader for the final days of Adam. I had a hard time starting that part of the book and delayed reading it for several days. The end of the book was read through tears. This is just the best book and needs to be read by any American to understand the sacrifice that our Armed services give for the freedoms that all American's enjoy. Please read this book and thank you Eric Blehm for writing it.

I did read a few of the reviews posted on this website to see if I was missing something. Apparently I am. There are a few that were negative reviews, so I guess I fit in with them in some way. But I will say that just because I couldn't get into it doesn't mean that it is not beneficial for anyone. I didn't grow up in a military family and really have no interest in military stories, though I do respect and honor the role that they play in our society. Hopefully reading this review does not deter you from picking up the book. As to whether or not I would recommend it to a friend, it really depends. For me it wasn't interesting, but to someone else it might be. It just might be a book that encourages you and you can disregard what I think, because in the end it really doesn't matter. May you find this story inspiring you to follow the Lord more closely.
