Tell us a little about yourself. Married for over 34 years; enjoying two grandchildren, and writing on my blog - Fatherless Lens.
I presently teach 40 juvenile boys 13-16 years of age in a residential boys home. They impact me as much as God allows me to impact them. God keeps me working in areas of influencing the next generation and areas of crises.
What was your motivation behind this project? To learn more of God's heart. The fatherless phrases throughout scripture bothers God for multiple reasons. As a Christ walker my heart must match God's; other circumstantial reasons are shared within the book.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I pray that people will prayerfully consider the principles from God's heart for the fatherless and infuse those principles into each and every ministry that God has given them in their local church.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? After serving the LORD for over 25 years as a Chaplain in the military, the new impact was a reevaluation of what God considers important. The world and its structures tend to keep our priorities off balance and prescribe incorrect values.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My dad who is with the LORD now, my mom who led me to the LORD, and multiple men of God who serve faithfully (mostly unknown to fame. I enjoy CS Lewis, Jeff Shaara, Blackaby, Lupton and McDonald (My personal library is two bedrooms full - it is hard to pin down) Newsboys, John Fischer, and George Beverly Shea would give you my range of music tastes.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I would like readers to lead this twelve week study in their church and as the LORD impacts their own unique Christ walking group, share with other churches what refocusing the LORD's heart has done to tweak, change, or start a ministry in your community.
