Christin5 Stars Out Of 5July 25, 2009ChristinThis is a very moving story of a simple and loving Orthodox Christian monk, the horrors of Communism, and how God works through even the most unsuspecting people to bring His light into a world filled with evil. For the reader, this book solidifies the evil behind Communism as well as reminds us to keep our faith even in the darkest of times. Reading a story such as this (one that recounts such horrors, evil, and darkness in history) to be so filled with hope, goodness, love, and grace (all by God working through the lives of people) can be life-changing. This book is presented as a collection of memoirs and recounts from many interconnected real-life characters. It is truly a beautiful account of what the Holy Spirit can do in each of us! I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Roberta Hanna3 Stars Out Of 5March 17, 2009Roberta HannaGiving an insight into a branch of the Christian faith which many of us are unfamiliar with, this book challenges readers to explore other ways to walk with God. It also reveals events and conditions inside Russia during Stalin's leadership. Our readers group finds that God speaks and works across denominational lines and is not bound by cultures or systems of belief. We have studied works of C.S. Lewis and about Mother Theresa previously. Sometimes we traul makes our Gad too small.
