This book comes as close as a book can get to being artistic without drawing a physical picture, because it definitely paints a vivid one while reading. Both theologically and prophetically sound, Kris Vallotton not only empowers women with this piece, but also equips men with realizing or further reiterating how valuable women are.

God created women to stand along side men, not beneath them, not created of lesser value than, but to be fully equal with them. Yet for whatever reasons, the church has yet to grasp this. The Bible is full Jesus showing us just that, that woman were created equal. Yet people tend to pull out the same few verses without ever actually looking at them and rely on the tradition of the church to interpret them rather than revelation. Kris doesn't do that, he shows us the verses, shows us the other interpretations there are out there about them. Calls us to use our brains and actually seek God on what those verses mean rather than as a means to control.
This is a book I can't say enough good things about. I have been recommmending this book to everyone I know. It is a needed book in every church. For years I've felt like the outsider, I don't believe that God created my husband as the boss and my role as a christian wife is to do as he thinks I should. I have been created equal, and I have a brain! I am capable of intellegent decisions! The oppression in churches is unreal to me. I didn't grow up in the church and didn't really notice it till I was married and then it seemed everyone knew what my marriage should look like. I have fought against this issue for years, have lost friends over it, have had emails sent to my pastor about me more times than I care to count! But there is that part of me inside that says "no this is wrong" and while I think it would be easy sometimes to just give in and stop caring, I can't. The church needs freedom, the women within the walls of the church need freedom! An oppressed people will always rebell its only a matter of time. Kris's book was what I needed. It was that push that even though you feel alone, because freedom of women isn't a common view in most churches, that there's at least one other person out there who sees it! Who's saying its worth fighting for! This is a book that will revolutionize the church if they would just pick it up and read it! WE NEED THIS BOOK!!!!
tmurrellTNAge: 35-44Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5Difficult to read - disappointingSeptember 17, 2013tmurrellTNAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1Women have been powerful and prominent throughout history. But the author believes that we are still being repressed and misrepresented in today's world, especially in the church. His focus seems to be on showing how women can be great and be groomed to "reign".
The idea for the book is great. So I was excited to see how the author put these ideas on paper. Almost from the very beginning I was turned off. The presentation just wasn't working for me. There were quite a few things initially that I didn't agree with either. The author seems to use scripture very loosely and, I felt, often incorrectly. He kept urging the reader to stay with him and finish the book. I finished the book. I was left with very mixed feelings. The idea was great. The history was great. The battering ram approach just turned me off. While I enjoyed parts of this book, I honestly can't say that I would recommend it to someone wanting to read about this issue.
I received this book free of charge from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.
Jill JonesOpelika, ALAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Women created to be leadersSeptember 11, 2013Jill JonesOpelika, ALAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Kris Vallotton wants to start a revolution. "Fashioned to Reign" is the impetus. This revolution begins as men and women open their minds to the true design of leadership God intended when He created them. This revolution, as Vallotton states in the introduction of his book, will empower women to be the leaders God created them to be in spite of the believers who use the Bible to disqualify them from leadership roles in the church.
Even though Satan has attempted to rob women of their rightful identity, the Bible shows that women can be restored. Vallotton takes many examples from the Bible of women in leadership roles such as Deborah, Abigail, Esther and many others. His argument from a biblical perspective backed up with Scripture and examples of women throughout history who have proven leadership skills reveals that it is time for the church to lead the revolution to free women to serve in the roles God has called them to without condemnation.
It is time for the oppression of women in the church to be eradicated. Many Scripture passages used to settle the argument over women's roles are misunderstood. Vallotton's book attempts to clear up these misunderstandings and settle the argument once and for all.
