For many of us the word home brings warm thoughts and happy memoriesfar more than the dictionary's simple definition of "a place of birth or one's living quarters." For many of us, home is where the heart is.
Yet it is even than that. It is the secure environment that allows our hearts to develop. A haven of growth, quiet, and rest. The place where we love and are loved. Sadly though, this kind of home is beginning to disappear as our busy society turns homes into houses where related people abide, but where there is no "heart."
With a desire to help you nurture your family's heart, Susan Schaeffer Macaulay presents a clear blueprint for constructing a home that survives the variety of situations that you face in modern life. With Jesus Christ as the foundation, using tools such as common sense, realism, and traditions, you can build a secure, loving environment where every member of your family can flourish.
Shawna Hawkins5 Stars Out Of 5September 26, 2008Shawna HawkinsI am a big fan of Susan's and this book is another classic. Everybody needs to read this book--not just homeschooling mothers!!We are at a time in our country when many people aren't secure at home, or don't have one. This brings us back to why God started the world with a family and how we can get back where we need to be.
Kelly B.5 Stars Out Of 5February 1, 2008Kelly B.I am devouring this book! Where has this woman been all my reading life? :) I am not quite finished with it, but what a fantastic book about the importance of raising children and caring for your family! Susan Macauley is so great at explaining the need for a healthy "good-enough" (in other words, NOT perfect) home and life and showing us how the Bible explains this. She is a huge fan of Charlotte Mason and brings a lot of her philosophies into the book as well. What a great read when this world tries to make us believe that we should be raising our children by "driving them around" and "drugging them" when not necessary. This author is so balanced! Highly, highly recommend this book to all Moms! Soak it up and be blessed and encouraged!
Ellen S.5 Stars Out Of 5July 4, 2003Ellen S.This is a life-changing book about family life, that encourages you to step back, slow down, and focus on the lives of those in your household with God's blessings and direction. Very philosophical, but not a boring reading. It made me cry twice.
