MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Super prayer resourceJanuary 7, 2017MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A helpful, handy book packed full of information and ideas for praying for a variety of topics, this would be great for every household to access. Even though my children are grown, I appreciated the thoughts and insights and samples of prayers. The author also shares personal stories to illustrate her ten main chapters, which deal with praying for families and others in various situations. These devotional sections are followed by a list of 100 original ideas for prayer, ranging from fun experiences to serious times. After that comes actual prayers for holidays and special occasions, arranged from January through December. Next is What God Says about Prayer, with Scripture references and versesa reference to bookmark and refer to often. Then she share classic childrens prayerssome familiar and some she wrote. She concludes with a love letter from our Heavenly Father. After that is an appendix of prayer resourcesmany were new to me, but one omitted that should be included is the Daily Audio Bible, which can be accessed online and prayer requests can be called in. I highly recommend this practical guide for praying together. The one negative for me is the smaller font, which makes it harder for my diseased eyes to read. I was given the book by Book Fun (The Book Club Network), and this is my honest review.

However, there are times where our lives become so busy that we can't wrap our heads and hearts around this special time. This book, Family Prayer Made Easy, can help with this.
Inside the cover is a commitment form for each member of the family to sign to show that each agree to pray together. Then each section begins with a family minute, including a short scripture. Then there is a true story from the author, some simple questions for the family and then a prayer, scriptures and promises. There are also optional activities that the family can work into this devotional time.
The different sections include Praying for a Happy Family, for Students, Schools, and Teachers, for Our World, Nation and Community, Serving God and them there are 100 more ideas for this time.
I think this is a wonderful book for any young family who is looking for a way to bring the family together during devotions, no matter the age of the children.

nkwbookreviewer5 Stars Out Of 5Gem of a Book for Family Devotions and PrayerSeptember 7, 2016nkwbookreviewerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Family Prayer Made Easy: A Practical Guide for Praying Together" by author Teresa Herbicide is a paperback book published by Whitaker House. This 175 page gem of a book has a cute cover featuring a drawn family of four holding hands with a dog beside them. The top of the cover announces "includes prayers for holidays and special occasions".
This family book begins with a Personal Commitment to Prayer. This family agreement has places for Dad, Mom, Guardian, and five children to sign. The family agreement alone is worth getting the book. Opening the book after the Forward and Introduction are ten chapters on ten devotions on prayer (family, friends, church, school, etc.). Each chapter begin with a "Family Minute" which is a prayer that is followed by a scripture. Next is the story, questions and answers, and an interactive prayer. There are activities included, too. After the ten devotional chapters is a chapter with 100 more ideas . Then is the chapter on holidays and special occasions. The last few chapters are Classic Children's Prayers, and my favorites the ones on What God Says about Prayer and Father's Love a letter. The Appendix has prayer resources.
This is a wonderful book for families desiring to establish a family prayer time. It is biblically based and includes a lot of scripture. The back cover says to "press pause and pray" in the middle of our busy schedules. It urges families to seek God together instead of getting caught up in the everyday busyness and forget about Him. This sadly happens with all of the different school and sports activities. The practical tips given in this book would help any family get back on track for a prayer and devotional time.
Author Herbic has a pleasant, easy writing style. Her book is well thought and organized. She has done a lot of research to assist families. There are so many good ideas that new or seasoned Christian families will benefit from this book. The time spent with family in devotion or prayer is an investment that we will see increase beyond our imagination. Children learn what they live. This grandmother will use some of these ideas with my grandchildren. I cannot wait to pass this book on to my children for their families.
Do yourself and family a favor and pick up this inspiring book. It would be a great gift and wonderful for a church library. I highly recommend it to families. I happily rate this a 5 out of 5 stars. A copy of this book was provided for my honest review from The Book Club Network.
Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great for Family devotionsSeptember 6, 2016Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I am excited about this devotional and eager to begin using it with my family. It contains ten specific devotions on prayer. These begin with praying for your family, then moves on to friends, your church, schools and teachers, our nation and also includes personal problems such as sickness and grief.
Each devotional begins with a quick prayer and a verse, then a short story. Teresa incorporates questions, a prayer and Scriptures about the topic at hand. At the closing of each lesson there are interactive prayer or service activities to do with your family. These may consist of something as simple as writing prayer requests on a paper and keeping
them in a jar to fixing a sick person a basket of food or doing some volunteer work at your church. These projects are meant to be done as a family and bless others in the process.
This book can be used as a daily devotional over a period of ten days, or maybe a weekly or bi-weekly devotional. I will likely use it on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, taking time for the activities in between readings. Some of the projects will take a little time and effort to complete. But don't let that discourage you! If you want more, there are 100 more ideas in the back of the book to enhance your family prayer/devotional time. It also includes many additional Scriptures.
