Tell us a little about yourself. I am a pastor's Wife of 30 years. I am was born in Kingston Jamaica. I am a marriage and family therapist. I have been married to my husband Ray for 30 years. He is my high school sweetheart. We have three children.
What was your motivation behind this project? I journal. While doing this I felt led by the Lord to write this book. I feel there is a great need for pastor's wives to be encouraged and church members to get a glimpse of the joys and challenges the pastor's family face.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? They will be encouraged in their faith. They will be encouraged to stay in the ministry. There are many pastor's wives that I interviewed who felt they wished their husbands would leave the ministry because it is too stressful. I want them to understand the importance of their relationship with Christ and that this relationship is vital to their husband's call and the love for God's people. I pray they will see that being a pastor's wife is also a call. It is a great blessing even in the midst of the challenges.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I learned even more how to listen to the Holy Spirit as he told me what to write. I have now spoken to many women retreats, couples retreats, meetings with pastor's wives, book signing in a few locations and also spoke on Moody radio in Chicago. The greatest impact is to hear of the women who have accepted the Lord as a result of reading my book or decided to stay in the ministry with their husband.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My passion is to see broken marriages restored and the marriage and the family elevated as a great gift from God. I am greatly influenced by Gary Chapman, Gary Smaley's writings on marriage and the family.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I am also a recording artist. I sing on the praise band at my church in Evanston. I am available to speak to churches, at conferences as the Lord leads. I teach a marriage class with about 40 people each Sunday. I love gardening and I am very outgoing and love to laugh. Last but not least I love the Lord!!!
