Dr. Brown's book is an excellent resource! I am currently using this book as a supplemental text to the Scriptures themselves for a home-group Bible study on the book of Job. Dr. Brown's Jewish/Hebraic insights really provide material for our group discussions, as his verse/passage by verse/passage commentary are great. His Theological Reflections such as "Who Was The Adversary?" and "Job And Jesus" are fascinating. However, as he writes in his introduction, this book is not intended to be a heavy or deep academic study on the book of Job, as that can overwhelm the average reader (he also says that he intends to publish a lengthier academic version of his research in the future, so looking forward to that one too). Rather, this book is the perfect balance of scholarship and spiritual encouragement. Dr. Brown addresses some of the challenging theological issues of the book of Job, while also showing us that it is normal (and it can actually be healthy) to struggle with our faith in the Lord. Highly recommended!

Michael Brown is a scholar on the book of Job. His comments on the book of Job have been helpful in understanding a very complex book. He also includes a translation of Job and some essays that further explain some of the concepts. I look forward to my Bible study of Job each morning.
