Product Description

Literature opens new insights into life and language. Help children enjoy good books and learn foundational reading and literature skills with this "Literature Kit" from Classroom Complete Press.

Created for easy use by both teachers and students, the resources are divided into sections: a teacher's guide, student handouts, an answer key, plus graphic organizers and a rubric. The teacher's section provides a summary of the story along with a list of vocabulary for each chapter. The student worksheets include both "before you read" activities (which activate background knowledge, guide connections, and introduce vocabulary) as well as "after you read activities" (which check comprehension and provide opportunities for thoughtful consideration of the text). Six writing tasks and three graphic organizers are also included. The "easy marking" answer key features columns of answers that allow teachers to simply line up the worksheet with the key to quickly see the correct answers.

Grades 9-12. 55 classroom-reproducible pages; consumable workbook. Aligned with Common Core State Standards.

Please Note: the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is required but not included with this study guide.

Publisher's Description

In this State Standards-aligned Literature Kit, we divide the novel by chapters or sections and feature reading comprehension and vocabulary questions. In every section, we include Before You Read and After You Read questions. The Before You Read activities prepare students for reading by setting a purpose for reading. They stimulate background knowledge and experience, and guide students to make connections between what they know and what they will learn. The After You Read activities check students' comprehension and extend their learning. Students are asked to give thoughtful consideration of the text through creative and evaluative short-answer questions and journal prompts. Also included are writing tasks, graphic organizers, comprehension quiz, test prep, word search, and crossword to further develop students' critical thinking and writing skills, and analysis of the text. About the Novel: Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury, is the story of a man's struggle with his society and himself. The story begins with Guy Montag, a fireman charged with the job of burning books that have become outlawed. In this society, books have been deemed to have no value with new media and sports accommodating short attention spans. His struggle begins when he meets his neighbor Clarisse McClellan, a free-thinker that begins to open his mind. From there, he soon finds himself stealing the books he was tasked to destroy. Montag's struggle culminates in an attempt to discover the value of books himself, putting him in the very same danger as those he one persecuted. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian tale of self-exploration and the struggle between one's self and their society. All of our content is aligned to your State Standards and are written to Bloom's Taxonomy.
