Brief and basic, but helpful
September 6, 2012
The original version of this commentary was written during a time period when very little was available on the book of Ezekiel from an Evangelical perspective. For that reason alone, this book made an important contribution. Now there are more good options available, but this commentary is still a good beginner's introduction to Ezekiel.
Like most of the volumes in the TOTC series, this commentary reflects first-rate evangelical scholarship presented in a highly readable way. Bishop Taylor's thoughtful exegesis was very helpful in illuminating the message of Ezekiel. I appreciated the fact that where he referred to Hebrew words, they were transliterated for the benefit of those of us who don't read Hebrew. The only disadvantage of this volume is its age. First published in 1969, it naturally does not address more recent developments in Old Testament scholarship.
