Her story. His story. The love story of Joey and Rory.
By inviting so many into the final months of Joeys life as she battled cancer, Joey and Rory Feek captured hearts around the world with how they handled the diagnosis; the inspiring, simple way they chose to live; and how they loved each other every step of the way. But there is far more to the story.
"My life is very ordinary," says Rory. "On the surface, it is not very special. If you looked at it, day to day, it wouldnt seem like much. But when you look at it in a bigger contextas part of a larger storyyou start to see the magic that is on the pages of the book that is my life. And the more you look, the more you see. Or, at least, I do."
In this vulnerable book, he takes us for the first time into his own challenging life story and what it was like growing up in rural America with little money and even less family stability.
This is the story of a man searching for meaning and security in a world that offered neither. And its the story of a man who finally gives it all to a power higher than himself and soon meets a young woman who will change his heart forever.
In This Life I Live, Rory Feek helps us not only to connect more fully to his and Joeys story but also to our own journeys. He shows what can happen when we are fully open in lifes key moments, whether when meeting our life companion or tackling an unexpected tragedy. He also gives never-before-revealed details on their life together and what he calls "the long goodbye," the blessing of being able to know that life is going to end and taking advantage of it. Rory shows how we are all actually there already and how we can learn to live that way every day.
A gifted man from nowhere and everywhere in search of something to believe in. A young woman from the Midwest with an angelic voice and deep roots that just needed a place to be planted. This is their story. Two hearts that found each other and touched millions of other hearts along the way.
Rory Feek is a true renaissance man, known as one of Nashvilles premiere songwriters, entrepreneurs, and out-of-the-box thinkers. He is a world-class storyteller, crossing all creative mediums, from music and film to books and the Internet, and is the New York Times bestselling author of This Life I Live.

Momof35 Stars Out Of 5Longing for a Life, a Love, That's Exceptional?July 17, 2017Momof3Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Do you long for a life, a love, that is exceptional?
God has the power to press the extraordinary out of the ordinary. Rory Feek can attest to that.
I saw a clip on Facebook awhile back promoting their movie, To Joey with Love. That one small clip drew me in. I knew I wanted to learn more about this ordinary man, this ordinary woman, and their extraordinary love story.
This book is not about country music. It's about love, grace, and redemption. If you're unfamiliar with the Feeks, the book, This Life I Live makes a wonderful introduction.
As the subtitle of the book states, it is about one man's extraordinary, ordinary life and the woman who changed it forever. The author, Rory Feek, is a songwriter and entrepreneur. Not only does he create music, but also films, books, and he writes a blog.
Coming from a broken family and poor conditions, Rory candidly shares his stories of growing up. He often adds humor and he always sums things up with grace.
The short chapters take us for a ride through his turbulent life in search for peace before finding it in Jesus. Even then, he had to hammer out his faith and he continues to grow in his spiritual walk.
It's not until about halfway through the book, before we discover how Rory met Joey, about their love and marriage. If you've already heard about their amazing love story, you may be surprised by his account of their first two years of marriage. It's real, which is why people can relate to it.
The book is chockfull of wisdom about life and love and presented in a genuine, down-to-earth way. Like Joey's garden, all readers need to do is cultivate the words and reap the harvest.
I highly recommend this book. This book is a great gift for any man, no matter where he is in his life journey. I would give it to guys ages 16 - 96. Women will enjoy it as well.
The only thing missing from this book was the inclusion of photos. Most biographies have them. I would love to have seen photos of the couple when they got married, of the garden Joey loved, of their kids and the farmhouse. Nonetheless, you can see plenty of those photos on Rory's blog.
Both men and women will find inspiration and encouragement on the blog and in this book. They will be challenged to allow God to weave the extraordinary into their ordinary lives. Rory helps us see how obtaining a wonderful, exceptional life is not at all about how much money or stuff you have.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
comfyreading4 Stars Out Of 5this life i liveJune 3, 2017comfyreadingQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Rory Feek and his late wife Joey were a country duo that took the world by storm. Singing, guitar playing, and love werent the only things that got attention for the couple. The fact that they lived such a basic life really caught the admiration of their fans. They lived on a farm, and grew their own food, which created a wonderful tv show that boasted many viewers. Then tragedy hit the couple, when Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer shortly after having their daughter, Indiana. You may have heard of the news on Facebook, you may have even followed their story, and when Joey passed away, you may have even heard their songs on the radio. Now, Rory is telling the story of his life before and after Joey- and how all roads seemed to lead to her.
Rory grew up with siblings and his parents in a run down farm house, he also moved A LOT. His story is like many peoples, one in which he had to dig deep and work hard to get where he was going, but it was a triumphant story. Especially the part about his ex wife leaving him and his daughters in Hawaii to fend for themselves. Rory raised his daughters alone, and then he met Joey who instantly fell in love with him. Joey didnt want children, but soon took Rorys daughters under her wings. They became a little family of their own.
Then Rory and Joeys music started to get airtime, and they became a household name in the country world. The duo was hot, and they were creating much attention for themselves, living the dream.
Not long after that Joey became very sick and passed away. But Rory kept holding on, trying to make things work for their daughter, and he continues to shine light where ever he goes because he knows thats what Joey would want.
This book was simple, short and sweet. I enjoyed getting to know where Rory came from, but I have to admit I was more interested in the bits about he and Joeys relationship. I followed them on their journey through their tv show, and I was well invested in Joey when she was diagnosed with cancer. I cried when she passed, and reading about what kind of person she was-head strong and very honest- made me respect her that much more. Rory is an incredible story teller (if you couldnt already tell through his music) in this book he describes the good and the bad, the mistakes he made and the love he shared. I really liked that the chapters were kept short and to the point, yet the stories were rich. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars only because I would have loved more stories about Joey.
