Everyone who studies the Bible wishes at some point that he or she knew the original Hebrew or Greek in order to better understand a difficult word or passage. TheExpository Dictionary of Bible Words gives readers the fruits of a working knowledge Hebrew and Greek without the years of language study.
The Expository Dictionary of Bible Words is more than just a handy and thorough alphabetical guide to the English translation of the Hebrew and Greek words used in both Testaments. There are thousands of articles, all arranged alphabetically by English word and coded to Strong's numbering system for ease of use. Each article is divided into two sections -- Old Testament (Hebrew) Words and New Testament (Greek) Words -- with an entry for the Hebrew or Greek word along with its transliteration, translation, range of meaning(s), and comments on its use in different biblical contexts. A comprehensive system of cross-references aids the reader in finding different words as well as discussions of related words and themes.
Although reference works like Vine's and Englishman's have long aided Christians in understanding the nuances of different biblical words, the Expository Dictionary of Bible Words surpasses all available reference works. The "Additional Notes" to articles throughout the volume provide valuable and insightful information on the connections between Old and New Testament words and themes.
Freedom4 Stars Out Of 5Wish this were 2 volume.February 14, 2017FreedomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I purchased one of these years ago. This must be a newer printing.
I absolutely love it!
I love the O.T. words right there with the N.T. definitions. Little differences can be huge when, let's say "love" is defined (Peter do you love me...). The interlinear is required to see how love is used in the three times Jesus asked Peter and how Peter answered. Check it out for yourself. John 20:15-17.
4 stars? I just wish there were more words defined. It would be quite extensive if every word in a translation was in there. I just want another volume with the O.T. and N.T. words right there. I did purchase a key word bible and love it but, sometimes I need additional words defined.
But I still shout out to GET THIS DICTIONARY!

Susan5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent ResourceDecember 18, 2010SusanQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is an excellent book to refer to when you are studying your Bible word for word, and you want to know the Hebrew or Greek meaning for a particular word. When you look up your word, you'll find it listed for the OT and NT. From there you will read the meaning as it relates to specific verses.
This is a wonderful reference when studying word for word. You really must know the actual original meaning in Hebrew or Greek before you can understand the text.
Q: Does this have a CD? The first printing came with an interactive CD version does this one have it also?
No, this work no longer includes a CD version.
