Beginning with the first chapter and the first verse John Phillips gives a structured ouline that he uses to exegete Paul's book to the Roman Church. Explaining content and intent Phillips sparingly uses original language when useful and typically a devotional story to help the meaning (when needed). Paul had the ability to systematically correlate his writings with-in and with-out each of his letters and Phillips uses this structure as a clear presentation helping us to understand and appreciate one of the two most important books in the New Testament. The other of course is the Book of John. "John" explains the Diety of Christ and "Romans" gives us the blueprint as to why we need Christ and how we are to live in Him.
