Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Clearly explains basic physicsDecember 8, 2010Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Exploring the World of Physics" teaches basic physics within the format of discoveries made throughout history. It included page-long biographies of scientists who made important contributions to our understanding of physics.
The author did a good job of clearly explaining new concepts. The book was suitable for middle schoolers on up, though younger children may find this book understandable. There were useful black and white charts and illustrations. There were also a few experiments that the reader could do with common objects. At the end of each chapter, there were 12-20 questions that tested if you learned the important points in the chapter. The answers were in the back.
The author occasionally referred to God as Creator and pointed out when a mentioned scientist was a Christian. Overall, the book was interesting and well-written. I'd recommend it to homeschoolers and those who want to learn basic physics in an interesting way.
I received this book as a review copy from the publisher.
Nicole Parkis5 Stars Out Of 5March 20, 2010Nicole ParkisVery impressive book. Easy enough and interesting enough that my ten year old son really likes it. It is never too young to instill the basic principles of physics and this book does a great job at that. But the book is also advanced enough with real life problems and formulas that it would be a good choice for high schoolers as well. Easy to understand but yet can be as complex as you want to take it.
