Best commentaries and all well written. Good inspiration for teaching ans lessons.

I am big fan of anything John Phillips writes and his commentaries are second to none. God truly blessed this gifted believer!

I love John Phillips books. This one does not disappoint. His writing is warm and engaging, and sort of reads like listening to a sermon sometimes. Separate chapters summarizing each book of the Old Testament, chapters are around 8 to 12 pages each. There ia a separate chapter on reading Hebrew poetry and one on reading the prophets. I like that they give a helpful structure and outline of each book in Phillips usual engaging style. This commentary is not technical at all, its easy to read. Just easy and fun commentary with short chapters.
