Cheryl FloodIllinoisAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Using this journal for my 9 year oldJune 9, 2013Cheryl FloodIllinoisAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4My daughter gets loads of writing opportunities in other areas of school, so I really didn't want a writing intensive journal, which I felt the regular journal had a lot more of - writing. I just wanted a journal for her to pull together what she'd learned or to review. I opted for the junior version and was pleased - it's not too young for her, provides places to record findings from experiments, review activities, a couple lap book type cut-outs from the back, some coloring pages at the beginning of each chapter (2 pages), and a whole lot less writing than what we've seen in other Apologia journals. This met our expectations and is perfect. My daughter enjoys this journal, LOVES the science text, and I feel it's a good fit. If you're looking for more writing, you may want to go with the other version geared towards older students.
kmissykFLAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great for our son with special needsJune 21, 2013kmissykFLAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We love this book - the "cut outs/crafts" at the end are in color (most of the workbook is in black and white). I love that they make a "junior" version of this for learning at the same time but at a different level. Our oldest son has extra chromosomes (aka: special needs) and is no where near his younger brother developmentally. A problem we tend to run into is that many books made for his "grade level" are so far from his age that it feels baby-ish. This he can work right along side his brother (who does not have the jr version) doing similar projects/learning but at his level.

Just enough to keep her interested not leaving her discouraged like the non-junior journal.
Definitely recommended :)
