My daughter never liked science until she started this curriculum. Soon after she started the apologia biology curriculum, she told me she LIKES her science book. I was pleasantly surprised! She said she likes how everything is explained in a way she can understand it, and she likes having the daily lesson planner to keep her on track. She often tells me about the things she is learning. When I saw this first edition set for the bargain basement price, I couldn't pass it up! I'm glad I didn't!

My older son used this and enjoyed it. This is a challenging course, so if your child is not strong in science, hold off a year before attempting this. My major complaint(as a creationist)was the presentation of creationism. The 9th chapter is dedicated to this, but is poorly written. Throughout the text I felt like the authors were beating a dead horse with proof of creationism being woven into every other sentence. My other issue was the lack of color and photos. For the price of this course, I felt this lacked the beauty of less expensive texts. I truly appreciate the friendly presentation of the Apologia series, as well as the expectation that students will want to actually think about what is taught, but my younger son will be using the new CLP Biology next year.

I've been homeschooling for 12 years using many formats for teaching science including unit studies. This is the first system that is easy enough for me to find everything I need for labs in my home, plus interesting enough that my 8th grader remembers the information months after he is finished studying it. I am very excited about Apologia and am on my way to the warehouse to get the next course!

My daughter finds this course easy to understand although the material is challenging. I like how Dr. Wile presents the material in a systematic form going from lower life forms to higher. No longer do I have to worry about presenting creation view along side science but through this Biology course my daughter is learning about biology and evolution from the perspective of a creationist, equipping herself to see modern fallicies in science.
