Science can be hard to understand for parents and teen alike! Bring an experienced teacher into your home to supplement your physical science course with this instructional DVD-ROM. Apologia Academy instructor (and homeschool dad) Rusty Hughes will win your teen over with explanations, analogies, and stories he's collected over his sixteen-year career as a high school teacher. With more than nineteen hours of instruction, this DVD also contains video presentations of every experiment from the Exploring Creation with Physical Science textbook so students will know what their results should look like before performing the experiment themselves. There are 16 lectures, one for each module.
- Lectures for each module broken down by section (one section, experiment, example per video for ease of synchronizing with the textbook)
- Printable notes containing all math problems from the lectures
- 19 hours of physical science instruction
- All experiments from the text on video
Viewing will require Windows Media Player for PCs and Flip4Mac for Macs.

But this disc is a huge waste of money. The instructor is very "low Key" and there are NO visuals. He talks very calmly and here and there we stare at a blank computer screen! It does NOT include the normal video even the book cd had. My son Josh has enjoyed all of his Sciences over the years, but this disc is making him hate science class. I spent so much money on it I kind of want him to finish it but he is going to hate all things science by Christmas if I do...Ugh!
lambywool3 Stars Out Of 5Physical Science DVD could be done betterAugust 5, 2014lambywoolQuality: 5Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I purchased this hoping it would show the instructor teaching. It only does this when he is showing how to do an experiment. Otherwise you are often staring at a power-point type screen with a few more lines of text added as he goes on, and on, to discuss. Visually, (the power point style) it's boring. Occasionally he will have video clips of something to illustrate. What he is discussing is not boring, he does a good job explaining things, and goes into more detail than the text, or will give different examples than the text which is good. I will add, that he speaks slowly, with many pauses, so I "sped up" the speech so it would be normal speed :) We didn't usually watch the experiments, because my kids did them and to watch them too, they found repetitive. My kids dreaded watching this for the most part, I have visual learners & I think if they could of saw him teaching it, it would of kept them much more engaged.

This help get us through to see how the experiments should be done and what really is suppose to happen. Loved this product!
CT ReaderNortheastAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent ValueMay 3, 2013CT ReaderNortheastAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We have enjoyed having Mr. Hughes "in our home" this school year via the DVD. My son loves watching the DVD and says of Mr. Hughes: "He's a great instructor."
I listen to it as well. And we love Mr. Hughes' sense of humor and his laugh. He has made our science very enjoyable this year. A wide variety of topics is covered and thoroughly explained, with fun experiments. I highly recommend this DVD science course. For us it was well worth the money.
Q: Are all of the experiments shown on this CD? If all of the experiments are shown, is it necessary to still do the experiments? What are some pros and cons of not physically doing the experiments?
Yes, the experiments are featured on this DVD. If you are required to provide a lab credit, you will want to physically complete the experiments, as well. Also, doing the experiments yourself allows the student a hands-on opportunity to observe the results, which is more advantageous for tactile learners.
Q: If I purchase this video series, do I need the textbook as well?
Yes, this DVD-ROM supplement is designed to be used with either the Textbook Kit (WW336402) or Full-Course CD-ROM (WW236314).
Q: What exactly does the DVD entail? What does this DVD cover? There was not a detailed wrote up about it. Thank you :)Karen
