I've got 5 students and 2 babies in the house right now and needed a way to make things a little easier. I decided to try Apologia Science and the kids picked Botany. (My oldest is doing General Science) We've got 2 Notebook Jr. and 1 regular Notebook and are using them together and so far it's working very well. The younger kids sit at the table and listen and color along with us. I love having the schedule in the front and how the levels coordinate with each other.
I bought this for my second grader to do along with the text. She's excited about having her own science journal and really enjoys doing the activities in it. I like that there's a Junior version so she can do science with her older brother but, at her own level. The suggested lesson plans at the front of the notebook is a nice guide to use too. It makes planning for science a bit easier and leaves more time for teaching rather than lesson planning from scratch.
We are very excited to start our new botany study! This notebook will be perfect for my 2nd grader and kindergartener to share. I was nervous to make the extra expense, but this notebook far exceeds my expectations! We are in love with the Apologia books and are thrilled to have notebooking materials for little guys just learning to write! My children have always loved collecting things from "nature walks" and can't wait to fill these pages with all of their discoveries. Our order arrived quickly and in beautiful condition. Thank you so much for helping to enrich my children's lives!
My sons (10 & 11) really like the notebooking journals that go along with Apologia's science textbooks. They have some great little notebooking activities that are easy to do and lots of extra ideas for further projects, if you desire to do more. I love this resource.....it makes the reading lessons more interactive. I highly recommend them!
My first year doing Apologia I didn't get a journal because at that time they only had the regular notebooking journal. Then the next year the started making this Jr Notebooking journal. We decided to try it and we LOVE it. It has something for all my boys to do. Even my 4 year old who likes to get in the middle of school can at least color one of the coloring pages. But there are also things that challenge my 10 year old.
