This is the 7th book in the series. My son has worked his way thru them for phonics. This book has a couple of new activities. One is reading a short story, 1 page with about 5-6 comprehension questions. Another is fill in the blanks using the 3 syllables to make the word to complete the sentence.
We have used this series for remedial phonics work for my 12 yr old boy. It is otherwise just like the others in the series.
I have used this on three boys. I use it has a supplement to First Language Lessons, All About Spelling, and Christian Liberty Press Phonics A, B, & C. I think they get more out of it when I use the exercises in the Teacher's Guide, but I do not always get to them, and I do not do all of the TG exercises-- LOL ! Sometimes they finish three lessons and THEN we do a "crash course" of some the exercises from the Teacher's Guide as a sort of review, quiz, or "test". I only do this delay, because they finish faster than I have the time to do the lessons and I don't want them waiting on me. I have not used the second edition.
I thought this book was good for students who are just starting to use words expanding their vocabulary. In using these in their conversation, and understanding the meaning of these words. And the listener understanding the sentences used by the student.
