If you're looking for a parent- and kid-friendly phonics workbook, you've found it in this series. New phonics skills are introduced in each workbook. The Get Ready books teach students how to say and write consonants. The short stories in the Beyond books develop understanding and critical-thinking skills. The "1/2" books provide further practice activities. Teacher's guides feature detailed lesson plans and address key principles. My daughter enjoyed the pictures drawn by kids, and she loved using these workbooks to reinforce her newly acquired reading skills. Grades K to 4. Approx. 100 pages each, softcovers from Educators Publishing. -- Cindy
Kristina5 Stars Out Of 5great programMarch 18, 2016KristinaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The book is fun with silly pictures and right to the point with explaining the phonics rule. I have not used the teacher guide much but it's good to have. We do these lessons with my 7yr old orally.

I use it has a supplement to First Language Lessons, All About Spelling, and Christian Liberty Press Phonics A, B, & C. I think they get more out of it when I use the exercises in the Teacher's Guide, but I do not always get to them, and I do not do all of the TG exercises-- LOL ! Sometimes they finish three lessons and THEN we do a "crash course" of some the exercises from the Teacher's Guide as a sort of review, quiz, or "test". I only do this delay, because they finish faster than I have the time to do the lessons and I don't want them waiting on me. I have not used the second edition.
Homescholl mother5 Stars Out Of 5Making learning to read FUNAugust 27, 2015Homescholl motherQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My daughter loves this reading program. We switched from a more "curriculum" type program to this and she asks to do extra pages, unheard of before. And, it's affordable! Win/Win situation all around.
